Why Go Out With Me?

Linda O'Shea had been very surprised when the bad boy of St. Andrew's asked her out. Why would he want her? She was the complete opposite of the other girls he dated. Those girls were sexy and worldly, and barely stayed in dress code. She wasn't very sexy, she wasn't in the least bit worldly, and she stuck close to the dress code. She wasn't sure if garters were within the dress code, but they were beneath her skirt during the winter months. Unless she showed them to someone, she couldn't get in trouble. And how else are you supposed to get your stockings to stay up?
The more important question was: why would he want to date her? She was still a virgin, she didn't have heavy make out or petting sessions. She was bland compared to the girls the bad boy usually dated; she wasn't as curvy as they were, she wasn't as sexy, and she didn't know the first thing about kinks.
"Why the hell would you, Ladies' Man Danny Reagan, wanna go out with quiet, bland, unassuming me?"
"What? Oh, uh... I dunno. You're... nice? And really pretty."
Ohh.... crap. I said it aloud. "Oh. Well, thank you. Uh...."
"Come on, Linda!" Her friend called out to her.
"I'm gonna be late. I'll talk to you later." She smiled and turned on her heel, walking to her friend.
*************
"Are you insane?!" Donna, Linda's friend, yelled at her during lunch. "Go out with the guy!"
"Why? He'll just try to get into my pants just like all the other girls he's dated!" Linda saw reason. Why would she go out with someone who only wanted sex? "I should go out with someone as boring as I am. Like.... Harry."
"Harry? Harry Chalmers?" Donna shook her head, "he's a lady's man too! More so than Reagan!"
"I know," Linda said, disappointment in her voice. Throwing the top of her apple sauce down to the table, she grumbled, "I just wanna run my hands through those thick, luscious locks of his."
"Thirsty, much? Look, your brother introduced the two of you-"
"Yeah, my drugged up brother!" The blonde scoffed at the mention of her brother. Only eighteen, and he was becoming a deadbeat. He had to be held back a year because he was so stupid.
"Put everything else aside. Put all the girls he's dated aside, put all the stupid acts he's done aside. Whaddaya see?"
"A seventeen year old with a nice ass?" She ventured a guess.
"You're thirsty as hell."
"Donna..."
Just then, Tracy sat down, drawing the conversation to her new boyfriend Simon, leaving the question at hand on the back burner.
************
"Wanna say hi to my baby sis?" Jimmy O'Shea asked his best friend as they walked into the kitchen.
"Isn't she sick?"
"Nah. Hormones." As the friends walked up the stairs, he further explained. "Her cramps are so bad, she ceases to function properly." He knocked on the door with a cursive 'L'. Without waiting for permission, he walked straight in.
"There's this new thing- it's called knocking!" Linda told her brother.
"Danny and I just came to say hi." He pointed to the teen beside him, who was very interested in the decorations and posters.
"You don't drop by to say hi. You want something."
Before Jimmy could answer, the phone in the kitchen rang. He ran downstairs, not wanting to talk to his sister.
"Donnie Wahlberg, Huh?" Danny mused as he looked at a poster of the boy band member.
"Pretty cute, huh? Whatcha doin'?"
"What?"
"Why're you in my room?" She sipped her chocolate milk.
Danny shrugged, "just to say hi."
"Hi."
"Hi...." there was an awkward pause as Danny figured out what to say. "Linda.... I like you. I do. And I know we're kinda friends.... so wanna go on a kinda friends date with me?"
Linda thought for a long while. He is really cute.... "Okay, but I've got some rules."
"Rules?"
"No sex. Don't even ask or try. I've hurt guys before because they tried to get into my pants. And even if we make a thing of going out, I'm never gonna want sex. I'm waiting for my husband."
Danny nodded, "okay. That's a little old fashioned, but I respect that." And he wasn't just saying that, he really did respect her decision.
"Two: no means no."
Danny nodded, "I know that." He listened carefully to the rules, agreeing to 'obey' every single one. "Linda, I know I've got a... reputation."
"Yeah," she scoffed under her breath.
"But I'll do whatever the hell your rule book says. If you don't like Taco Bell, we won't got there."
"You seem sincere enough.... but if at any time you break the main rule, I'll slug ya and never speak to you again." She smiled like she was proud of that statement.
Danny chuckled awkwardly, "so.... next Friday?"
"Why not tomorrow?"
"Oh, um... well, you're not feeling the greatest today, and maybe you won't, Uh-"
Linda laughed softly at his stumbling. "Thank you. Next Friday would definitely be better."
"Good. Then it's a date."
She nodded, bringing the straw up to her lips. She watched him leave after wishing her well. Maybe he's not so bad after all.....
