Danny heard the screen door swing shut and he sighed, not wanting to talk to whoever was coming towards them. "Go away."
"Danny-"
"Look, I don't need any lectures or speeches or shit. I know what I'm doing," he sat up, prompting Linda to sit up as well.
"You're being selfish, you know that?" Erin grumbled.
"Me?" Danny stood up and whirled around to his sister. "I'm not the selfish one. You're the selfish one."
"He's right," Linda stood as well, ready to support her boyfriend. She crossed her arms defensively.
"Oh, and I don't suppose you're upset about this?" Erin almost yelled.
"Of course I'm upset! But I'm not gonna tell him he's selfish or stupid or anything else that's about to come from your mouth! I don't support war or violence, but if Danny wants to fight to help the US or any other country, then I'm sure as hell gonna support him! Just because you don't agree or support a decision, doesn't mean you have to stop loving the person who made that decision! I'm not gonna stop loving Danny because he's going to do something he thinks is right."
"So you're with us on this one?"
Danny looked to Linda, who seemed at a lost for words. "Of course she is. You heard her- she hates violence and war. War. What is it good for, right? Absolutely nothing."
"I never said that. And that song's awful. You're right, Erin. I am with you guys on this one. I think there has to be another way. But it's what Danny wants. And not only am I going to support him, but I will fight whoever tears him down." Linda linked her arm with Danny's.
Erin groaned loudly and rolled her eyes, "I don't believe you!"
Linda stepped in front of Erin. "Then it looks like you're going to be the first person I fight."
"Linda, that's demented! I'm allowed to have my own opinion. What Danny's doing is stupid. It's stupid and dangerous and sel-" Erin's eyes widened when she felt a slap to her cheek. She looked at Linda who's arms were crossed, a nasty expression on her face. Erin slapped the blonde, who immediately punched the tall brunette in the shoulder.
Danny watched as his sister and his girlfriend got into a cat fight. They started rolling on the ground, kicking and hair pulling. "Stop the violence," the eldest teen tried pathetically.  He saw his father coming out, who quickly ran over to the girls. He picked Erin off of Linda.
Danny helped Linda up, who was in silent tears at this point.
"What the hell happened?" Frank asked, leaving no room for lying or tiptoeing.
"Why don't you ask Linda?" Erin angrily wiped dirt off her arm. "She's the one who wants to spit opinions."
Linda closed her eyes and held her hands on her stomach. Quietly, she explained, "Erin was bein' a bitch about this whole thing. I said I'd fight whoever bitched to Danny about his decision. She kept bitchin', so I kept my word."
"Look, Dad. I don't care if anyone is with me on this. But Linda's in pain. Can she stay for a little bit more?"
Frank nodded, "let's all go inside. We need to talk."
The three teens and frank walked into the house. Danny and Linda occupied the couch while Frank stood in view of everyone.
"What?" Danny was angry now. He was angry at his sister. He knew his family would be upset, but he didn't expect it to go that way.
"Danny, We want you to know that we support you," Frank stated calmly.
"And that we're sorry," Mary added, hugging Jamie. "I wasn't expecting that, and-" she choked on the tearful lump in her throat. "I just don't want to see my baby die!"
"Ma!" Danny rolled his eyes as his Mom engulfed him in a hug.
"I'm sorry, too," Jamie said with some contempt in his voice. "I just don't want you to leave."
"None of us want Danny to leave," Linda laid her head on his shoulder, thankful that Mary had finally let go. The blonde linked their arms again, clutching the heat pad to her stomach. "But what we feel doesn't matter."
"Yeah, Danny. We'll help you get ready." Joe nodded, looking at his older brother. "Whatever you need or want, we'll help."
"Thank you," Danny quietly responded.
*************
Later that night, Erin sat in her room, near tears as she angrily wrote in her diary. She didn't notice anyone walk into her room.
"Aren't you gonna apologize to Danny?" Jamie wondered, stuff bear clutched in the crook of his arm.
"Why? I can't apologize for something I'm not sorry for."
"But you hurt his feelings."
"So did you."
"But I said I was sorry. You made him an' Linda cry."
Erin stopped being mad for a second, but quickly shook her head. "Linda's too sensitive and Danny's a wuss. Now go away."
Jamie sighed but obeyed, thinking hard. What if Danny and Erin never made up? What if they would be mad at each other forever?
