Scott was cleaning up the house and waiting for (still Pre-Serum) Steve to come home from work. He hummed cheerfully when he noticed that he wasn't the only thing doing so. He frowned and looked around, hearing an odd vibration. He followed it upstairs to the loose vent where he used to hide his other phone from the FBI, and opened it up. "Whoaaaa... is that Steve's old avengers card thingy?" he asked nobody as he picked it up. "Uh oh, this could mean trouble..." He pulled out his phone and dialed steve in a panic. "Come home right now! I think there might be an emergency!"

Steve was very concerned and startled by Scott's panicked voice. "Alright, I'm on my way!" He hung up and practically dashed out of the market, going as fast as he could to home. Soon making it and going through the door. "Scott! What is it? What's wrong? Where are you?" The blonde said in a rushed tone.

"I-I don't know, but your thingy is going off! I heard it while I was cleaning- m-maybe it's just broken?" He held out the card which was vibrating again, showing that Tony had activated it recently. "Well, I mean if this is legit, how are you supposed to help? It's not like you can just go all captain america..."

Steve took in all that information and took the card. It must've been important because Stark wouldn't just activate it for no reason. "Yes I can, just because I'm small doesn't mean I'm not good with a shield" the blonde went over to the closet and took out his shield. "There could be something serious happening. I have to help in anyway I can"

"Uhhh Steve? You know that your shield is ten pounds heavy, right? I don't even think I could swing that thing around like a giant frisbee..." Scott sat down on the bed with a heavy sigh and glanced at his suit in the closet. "You know, maybe I could go instead, I wouldn't want you to get hurt or anything, and maybe I'd be a little more... effective?"

Steve sighed and put his shield down, heading over to Scott. The blonde sat down next to his fiance and held his hand. "You're actually way more better than me than you realize. You can grow and shrink! Heck if you wanted you can just turn big and grab a handful of bad guys.." the smaller male leaned his head on the brunette's shoulder. "I don't want you to get hurt though..."

"Yeah... I just feel like I wouldn't be what they wanted... or expected..." Scott sighed and glanced at the shield. "Speaking of your hero stuff, what are you planning to do with it now that you can't exactly fight anymore? Maybe we can turn it into shield or something, we wouldn't want the wrong hands getting on it..."

Steve thought about it for awhile...it's true, he doesn't really need to use it anymore. Those days of being Captain America are past him, like a retired man. Maybe he could pass it down to someone....but who could be worthy of the shield? The blonde looked at his fiance and thought that he was like a lot of Americans out there. Hardworking, a good part in the community, a hero with good heart and determination...maybe...."Scott..." The smaller male lifts the shield and held it out to the brunette. "I think you should keep it...I don't see any other who's more worthy of it and it's uses..."

Scott blinked a couple times, looking almost confused. "What? Y-You can't really mean that- I mean, I dunno Steve..." He glanced at the shield nervously and shook his head. "I couldn't imagine myself with that thing, I can barely fight with the abilities that I already have." He backed away from him and into the wall, feeling like a cornered animal. All that responsibility and honor, it... it couldn't be meant for him! "I could never live up to you or be the next Captain America or whatever it is you want from me... I-I just-"

"When I was big, part of me felt the same way. The small Brooklyn boy in me at the time didn't seem like enough for the duties of fighting Nazis. But the thing is it's not about strength or good amount of skills..." Steve stood in front of Scott with a warm expression. "It's about heart, how much you feel determined to do what's right. Even though at some moments things are gonna seem scary or pretty intense...but your brave Scott Lang....and I can't picture myself giving this shield to anyone else..."

Scott stopped rambling and calmed himself slightly, feeling himself blush a little too as he hesitantly took the shield and looked at it. He swallowed and looked back to his fiance, feeling so full of something... was it still jitters? "Oh Stevie... you really don't know how much this means to me..." He held the shield tighter slightly. "I promise, I won't let you down..."

"I know you won't..." Steve went on his tippy toes and kissed Scott's cheek. "You're gonna do great things doll and I have always been very much proud of you..." The blonde smiled at the brunette, confident and sure that he made the right choice. He believes in his fiance, the city is in good hands..

Scott nodded and took the card, along with the shield and the suit. "Okay... I'll try to do this, but I hope that I don't mess anything up too much..." He stopped at the door and turned back to face his fiance with a lopsided smile. "Oh and Stevie? Thank you. For believing in me..." He opened his arms, hoping for a hug.

Of course Steve ran to Scott's open arms and gave him a big hug. Then giving a loving kiss on the lips. "I love you Scott, be careful and I know you can do this.." the blonde kissed the brunette's cheek and smiled softly. "My hero…"

"Aww... don't worry Stevie, I'll make you proud.." Scott held him for a moment longer before going out the door, feeling like this was a job for someone else. A job for Steve... but it might be nice to be a hero that people appreciated for once…
