The battlefield immediately below the wall erupted into fire and shrieks as my vengeance for my fallen ally took affect. A few of our own soldiers snapped their attention to me as I watched my slice of Hell eradicate a portion of my enemies at once. I don't know if they were impressed or scared of the carnage I'd been able to cause but it didn't matter. I felt my head clear as the rage that'd been boiling over was reduced to a simmer after my actions. I felt better and worse all at once but I didn't have any time to dwell on the complicated emotions swirling through my head right now because the Uruk'hai had begun to march up the stone bridge. Their feet slid under them but they persisted, clearly not recognising the liquid as a danger. They beat upon the door rather pointlessly until a group of orcs made their way up the centre of the forces with a battering ram. I saw Legolas and a few other soldiers, both men and elf, take aim at the group but I wasn't worried. Just as the group of orcs reached the gate and began trying to knock it down I leaned over the wall on our side to use my megaphone to give the signal.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!" I sang and some of the soldiers that had been present when I explained the signal snapped their heads up at me.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!" I sang the second line and those soldiers began to retreat from the door, pulling others with them and hastily explaining the situation.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR URUK-HAI" I pulled away from the wall as the last of the men moved to a safe distance and the gate groaned dangerously under its assault. I wandered to the outside wall so I was glancing over the edge at the orcs below me now. I materialised a sparkler and lit it with the lighter I still had on me.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOOOOOO YOOOUUUUU!" I finished and I dropped the lit sparkler.

The bridge caught alight and the smell of burning flesh was now so overwhelming that I gave an unintentional gag as I buried my nose in the crook of my arm. I ducked to our side of the door to double check that none of our troops had been to close to the door as I'd seen the flames lick the area dangerously in the wind. The men below were worse off than me as they tried to dampen the smell that permeated the air while the smoke from the corpses outside their position drifted through cracks in the gate and swamped them.

"Sorry guys, I'm not much of a cook!" I joked to them and I heard a few scattered laughs among the gagging and groans.

The smoke was too dense for me to spot Boromir but I imagined he was probably cursing me for putting him through this pungent hell. As soon as an orc fell another would take its place and so I was forced to call out a warning to the gate guard as a new crop of Uruk'hai rushed up the bridge, grabbing the charred battering ram, and tried to continue their fallen troops mission.

On my other side ladders were being erected against the wall and our soldiers were doing their thing, soaking and lighting the enemy as fast as they came, but there were just so many! A large object on the field caught my eye and I spotted a group of orcs carrying the explosive device Saruman had created. Surely without access to the sewer they couldn't use that to the best of it ability right? Probably best not to leave it to find out. It was still a ways back so I shouted above the sounds of battle to Legolas using my megaphone.

"ELF BOY! GET EVERYONE TO SHOOT FLAMING ARROWS AT THAT BOMB! DON'T LET IT GET CLOSE TO THE WALL!!!"

He nodded to me and gave the order. I watched anxiously as so many of the arrows clattered off its armoured shell. I was worried it may actually succeed at making it to the wall when an arrow finally made its mark at the top of the device, right in its opening. It exploded and sent shockwaves through the ground so much that I felt the earth tremor. That was way larger than my mines. Unfortunately I'd been so focused on what was happening with the bomb that I hadn't realised the situation below me until I heard Boromir's horn blare out above the fighting.

My heart skipped a beat horrifically and I sprang into action, summoning a rope ladder and gesturing for a portion of the men posted close by to descend to the lower level to help fight off the invasion. I made a few ladders and then prepared to drop myself. I slid down the rope careful not to get rope burn and found myself at the rear of our wall of defence. The men at the front had formed a shield wall and I had a sick feeling Boromir would be among them. All of a sudden something happened that I hadn't prepared for because it wasn't supposed to happen; a cave troll burst through the opening of Helms Deep!
