When at long last the white city looked before us I let out a nervous but somewhat relieved sigh. I was getting more and more sick by the hour and while I could blame the pregnancy to a point, I'm pretty sure that most of this was just anxiety sickness. Some of the men had started giving me a wide berth and were shooting me suspicious looks and honestly I think they thought I was diseased. It did feel like the plague.
"I can't wait to just lay down in your bed" I groaned to Boromir and he gave me a comforting kiss on the hand and replied, "you mean our bed".
I smiled back at him and then let out a sigh again as the gates to the city opened and we proceeded up the many levels until we finally reached the top. Boromir offered his hand and helped me off the horse while I just tried not to let the sudden dizzy spell knock me from my feet. As soon as Boromir turned his attention to Aragorn, who was dismissing the few men who had followed us up, Karma slid over to me.
"Are you going to be okay delivering this news yourself or do you need me?" She asked.
I glanced at Boromir who was smiling and conversing with our soon-to-be king and shook my head with a small smile of my own.
"Thanks but I'm sure it'll be fine. I may be freaking out but I'm sure he'll be thrilled when I tell him...hopefully" I muttered the last part.
"Okay, well if you need me I'll be taking care of the hobbits alright? Just come find me if you need to" she said and gave me a small hug before bounding away to help direct the soldiers unloading a still unconscious Frodo from the cart he was on.
I didn't wait for Boromir as I snuck away to his chambers. I ran into a servant on the way who recognised me and asked her to fill Boromir's bath for me. She didn't ask any questions but gave me a concerned look, clearly noticing how pale and fatigued I appeared. Not gonna lie, I wasn't exactly rocking this look. As soon as I made it into his...our room, I materialised a robe and rid myself of the clothes I'd been wearing for far too long. I slipped on the robe and as a procession of servants entered to empty buckets of hot water into the tub I relaxed on the bed and sipped at water until they gave the okay that the water was ready. I eagerly made my way to the bathroom and shrugged my robe off, climbing into the surprisingly not too hot water and trying not to notice the dirt that immediately started coming off me.
I had just finished washing my hair and face when I heard Boromir enter his chambers. He paused in the bedroom before turning and finding me in the bath, a grin spreading over his features as he made his way over.
"What a marvellous idea" he called, still in a jovial mood from earlier.
He quickly undressed while I washed the rest of my body and then jumped in with a splash while I chuckled at his energy. He dipped his head under the water and then resurfaced, coming over and planting a kiss on my mouth. Something I had refused to let him do until now because I was self conscious about vomit on my breath...
"We're home" he said, smiling and I couldn't help but return it as the word rang in my head, home.
"Thank god for that. I don't think I could've lasted another day travelling" I told him and his expression turned to one of concern.
"After we finish here I will have a healer come and tend to you. Perhaps they can shed light to the nature of this sickness" he said and I laughed, confusing him.
"I don't think that's necessary" I told him and he paused for a moment before asking, "Are you feeling better then?"
"No, no, if anything I'll probably get a lot worse from here on" I joked and he just frowned as he struggled to figure out how this could possibly be funny.
