When we left Minas Tirith it was a struggle to convince Faramir to stay behind, but after explaining his fathers instability and the need for a new Steward to stand in while we left he hesitantly agreed. It wasn't until Éowyn made clear that she'd be staying back, partly due to her wounds and partly to mourn the death of her uncle, that Faramir was really on board with the idea. He had agreed though to keep his father confined until our return, if we returned, so that punishment could be dealt for his actions. He was however told that he could visit Denethor, but understandably he confessed he had no wish to see the old man anytime soon. Knowing that the city was held in good hands Aragorn led us forth on our journey.
It was a six day trek to the black gate and by the third day everyone was already weary and sore from the saddles. Karma and I had found out, much to our delight, that we could in fact summon electric scooters with seats and so to pass the time we jumped on those and summoned two more smaller ones for Merri and Pippin who figured out how to balance and use them fairly quickly. The soldiers watched in mild entertainment as we weaved to the front of the procession and passed Aragorn who smirked as we giggled and waved. We raced up ahead and began a game of tag with the hobbits which quickly escalated until we were very near colliding just to tag the other players. At one point I straight up plowed straight into Karma and tackled her off her scooter, causing us both to go tumbling down a grassy hill where we lay at the bottom, laughing our heads off until the hobbits came to check on us, quickly followed by Legolas on horseback who looked relieved to see we were okay and just chuckled as we scrambled to get up.
"That was uncalled for" laughed Karma while I brushed grass off my butt.
"To be fair I hadn't expected you to stop when you saw me headed for you" I said with a smile.
"Well I kinda figured you'd slam the breaks on when you figured out I wasn't moving and I could use that hesitation to scoot off in another direction" she reasoned and I laughed at her.
"Well congrats, now we both know that games of chicken won't work with us" I shrugged and she shook her head with a smile as we climbed back up the hill.
As we reached the crest we saw quite a few soldiers laughing at us, including Éomer who had been up the front of the procession with Aragorn and therefore got an unobstructed view of the chaos. After our little tumble Boromir suggested we go back to riding horses for a while so we didn't further injure ourselves, and considering we'd totalled the scooters in the crash I couldn't bring myself to disagree. We travelled until dusk and then made camp, Karma and I supplying the meats and veg for a decent meal. This was going to be the best fed army that ever marched the way we were going. When we were done and had taken our seats in our own semi-detached camp area with the rest of our close companions Karma summoned herself a turkey sandwich with cranberry sauce and salad while I made sure Boromir had a nice plate of grilled chicken and potato salad, summoning only a banana for myself.
"What's with the banana?" Asked Karma raising a brow.
"I dunno, I'm just really keen for it. I'll figure out what else I feel like eating afterwards" I told her as I peeled the fruit meticulously.
She watched me with a smirk, as did Merri and Pippin, as I raised the now peeled banana towards my mouth, creating a perfect 'o' with my lips and playing along with their suggestive looks. The food was almost to my mouth when I suddenly turned it sideways and took a violent bite into the side of it. Every male who had been watching in amusement suddenly went wide eyed and a few visibly flinched while Karma looked horrified.
"WHAT DID YOU JUST DO?!" She screamed and I almost snorted as I tried not to lose my chewed food while laughing.
"This is how good girls eat bananas" I told her and Gimli burst out laughing while Gandalf, who had only just joined us as Karma began yelling, raised his eyebrows at me questioningly.
