Bailey's P.O.V.
.
I didn't want him to see me right now. I looked a mess, my hair was awful and my face probably looked disgusting as I'd just been sobbing like a lunatic.
.
He ignored my hesitant response as he began to climb up the rain pipe anyway.
.
"Cal, please don't fall!" I panicked, holding out my hands ready to pull him in.
.
When he'd eventually made his way in he looked over me properly and let out a long sigh. He walked forward a step or two and embraced me in a warm hug, gently rubbing my back up and down.
.
"I knew you weren't alright. What happened?" He whispered onto my skin leaving it to tingle softly.
.
"Nothing, I just stubbed my toe no big deal." I murmured into his chest.
.
"When are you going to stop pushing me out Bailey? I'm trying to help." He groaned.
.
"I'm sorry . . . I'm just not used to all this." I shrugged, it was true, but I hated sharing my feelings more.
.
He released me and hopped under my covers, opening them up and gesturing me to join him.
.
"What happened?" He repeated once he had locked his arms around me once more.
.
I sighed, reluctantly explaining what my parents had said that evening. Purposefully leaving out what they had done.
.
He kept tensing and his breathing got heavier but he remained silent the entire time, waiting for me to finish before he exploded.
.
"You're not any of those things Bailey, you're beautiful and kind and clever and she doesn't know what she's talking about, and he is just lazy. Tell him to make his own damn dinner." Calum grunted, rolling on top of me and then proceeding to completely roll off of me and heading to my bedroom door.
.
"Where are you going?" I asked, leaping up after him and pulling him back from going downstairs.
.
"I'm gonna go talk to them, this is unacceptable."
.
"Calum, please. Please just stay up here." I begged, clutching onto his wrists.
.
He was about to protest but he looked into my eyes and sighed, before catching a glimpse of my face properly in the light.
.
He brought his hand to my cheek and stroked his thumb across the bruised skin causing me to jolt away.
Crap.
I'd forgotten to cover it up.
.
"I'm gonna fucking kill Eden." He growled, slamming his fist heavily onto my chest of drawers, making them rattle. "When did this happen? Why didn't you tell me?" He roared.
.
". . . It wasn't Eden." I mumbled.
.
"What?" His voice softened as he grew confused.
.
Calum's P.O.V.
.
"It wasn't Eden." She repeated, louder this time.
.
"Then . . . who?" I asked, feeling more pity than anger now.
.
She turned away. Going back over to her bed and sitting down. She placed her face in her hands and I knew she was crying.
.
I walked over and wrapped my arms around her, pulling her closer to me.
.
"He doesn't usually hurt me, it's normally just my mum, but recently . . ." She trailed off as I put the pieces together.
.
". . . Wait. You're dad did this?" I croaked, feeling so guilty that I'd been acting so angry about Ashton when her problems were so much worse.
.
"Why doesn't your mum leave him?" I asked when she didn't reply.
.
"She says she loves him and that it's her fault anyway. I don't know what to do anymore Calum." She broke down after bottling up the information for so long.
.
"My mum slapped me too today, I'm so sick of them hating me. I didn't mean to be such a disappointment, I never wanted to upset them."
.
"Don't say that Bailey, you're not a disappointment, you're anything but that."
.
My heart broke at the mixture of seeing her so upset and how, until she was friends with me, she literally had nobody.
.
"I'm here Bailey, I'm always here." I whispered into her ear. I felt so helpless, I wished more than anything that I could just take away anything that could hurt her.
.
"Thank you. Sorry for being so dramatic." She mumbled, finally calming down.
.
"Do you want to stay round mine tonight?" I offered, desperate to keep her out of this house as long as possible, I wasn't sure how I was going to sleep knowing that Bailey could be hurt at any moment in her own home.
.
She nodded and hugged me back before getting up and packing her things.
.
"You know you're always welcome round mine right? If things get bad then just come over." I told her truthfully.
.
"Thanks, but that's most nights a week Calum, I couldn't do that to your parents."
.
"Couldn't do what?"
.
"Well they'd have to make dinner and all these things, not to mention me getting in their way."
.
"Are you crazy? My mum loves you Bailey, and my dad."
.
It was true, my mother spoke constantly about Bailey, she adored her. I had told Mali on the phone all about Bailey and my feelings a while ago, hoping for some advice, but I was almost certain she'd blabbed everything to our mother.
.
"Front door or window?" I asked once she had everything sorted.
.
"Front door." She smiled.
.
"Calum?"
.
"Mmm?"
.
"Please don't say anything to either of them . . ."
.
I really wanted to do a lot more than 'say something' to those miserable idiots, but there's no way I could resist Bailey's pleading eyes, I'd do anything she asked when she looked at me like that.
.
"Fine." I huffed, following her down the stairs and biting my lip once we arrived in her lounge.
.
It was only Bailey's parents in there, so the others must of left. They were snuggled up on the sofa and watching a movie, allowing me to see a softer side of her mother, one that seemed so weird and unusual to me.
.
"I'm going to Calum's tonight." Bailey informed them.
.
They ignored her blatantly, resulting in Bailey sighing and standing right in front of them.
.
"Mum, dad?"
.
They both rolled moved their eyes reluctantly to Bailey.
.
"Whatever keeps you away from me." Her mother shrugged.
.
"That's a nasty bruise you got their sweetie, better watch out next time." Her father chuckled, totally oblivious to my presence.
.
I felt the anger boil inside of me as u bite my lip harder, trying to contain myself for Bailey's sake. She rolled her eyes and walked back over to me as we flew out of the house as fast as possible.
.
I laced her hand in mine as I tried to be there for her, I just wanted to show her how much I cared for her. I wanted her to know I was always there.
.
We walked back to mine as I asked endless questions, all to which she actually answered for the first time. I felt so accomplished, like she finally trusted me.
