Bailey's P.O.V.
.
I wearily opened my eyes to find Calum dangerously close, his dark brown eyes watching over me. The original shock of him being beside me in my bed, his arms tightly holding on to me, sunk in before I recalled the recent events.
.
"Sorry for waking you up last night." I apologised, humiliated that I still had nightmares at my age.
.
"It's no problem." He grinned, a slight blush appearing against his tanned skin.
.
I was about to say something before his stomach interrupted me, it produced a considerably loud rumble, hinting to his hunger.
.
"Sorry, I normally eat as soon as I wake up." He chuckled, removing his arms from around me, the loss of warmth causing me to feel a shiver rush over me.
.
"It's fine, let's go and have breakfast."
.
We got out of bed and strolled down the stairs towards the kitchen doors. My eyes locked to the back of my mother as she faced away from us, chopping up an apple.
.
"Is that you Bailey? For once you didn't wake me up with your pathetic screams congrat-" She cut herself off as she span around to see Calum. "Oh. And who's this?"
.
"This is Calum, he's a friend from school." I nodded over to him.
.
"A friend? Did she buy you to prove a point or something to me?" My mothers comment caused my eyeballs to roll to the back of my head and her to release an ugly cackle.
.
"No, we met in maths class." Calum relplied in a monotone, clearly not responding to her devilish laughter.
.
He was watching my mother intently, the way many did on their first encounter with her. She had a strong nose and a sharp chin, her cheekbones high and thick, You'd look at my mother and feel as though her face was carved into the prow of a Viking ship somewhere, or maybe painted in an art gallery.
.
Her appearance was intimidating, a perfect fit for her sour personality. She definitely wasn't a women to cross paths with, a mistake only I seemed to make.
.
"This just gets better! You do know she's got a bit of a thick skull when it comes to that subject . . . all subjects actually." Her malicious smirk felt like a slap to the face.
.
"I happen to think she's very intelligent Mrs Rovers."
.
The smirk faded away and her lips pressed into a tight line.
.
"Hmm. Well see you whenever I get home from work young lady." My mother began to etch her way closer to me before gripping a bundle of my pyjama top in her fist.
.
"He's not going to stick around, you need to get more interesting for that, or prettier maybe." She whispered, almost silently, yet just loud enough for me to hear.
.
"Sorry about her." I apologised once we heard the door click shut.
.
"I'm more sorry for you than me." He murmured.
.
"Yeah, well anyway, what do you want for breakfast?"
.
~~~
.
"What do you want to do now?" I translated from Calum as he chewed his waffle whilst speaking to me.
.
"You're supposed to tell me, I've never had a sleepover before remember." I chuckled, yet felt uneasy at the problem, I genuinely had no clue who to keep my present guest entertained.
.
"Aaa yes, and how was your first time?" He cheekily raised his eyebrow.
.
"Best sleepover I've ever had." I pretended to flatter him.
.
"You mean that?" He mocked in return.
.
"With my heart and soul Hood." I stated, standing up to clear the table.
.
"Well I'm flattered. What's been your favourite beach so far then?"
.
"I . . . haven't exactly gone to one here yet." I bit my lip, cautious of his reaction, knowing he was a big fan of the beach.
.
"You're kidding. You've moved all the way out her from shitty England and you haven't gone to a single beach?"
.
"Hey! England is not shitty!" I defended my home country immediately.
.
"We have to solve this horror right away! Get your stuff together we are going on a day trip." He grinned like a small boy.
.
"What about your stuff genius." I acknowledged.
.
"We can stop by my place on the way, pleaseee?" He pouted like a small puppy.
.
"I never said I didn't want to go." I smirked before rushing up the stairs to retrieve my beach items.
