Chapter 21: Maybe love does that to you...

Taehyung finished his food and thanked Namjoon for checking in on Jin and Jina. The bathroom door opened and Jungkook walked out, with nothing but a towel wrapped around his waist. Taehyung gazed at Jungkook, forgetting everything else. Taehyung hated the euphoric effect Jungkook had on him. Jungkook noticed Taehyung’s gaze and smirked. “Okay I will be in the hall with the others. You two get ready and come downstairs. And do not dally;we need to talk” Namjoon said and left the room. Taehyung got up and started to unbutton his shirt. “What are you doing?” Jungkook asked, visibly flustered. “I feel disgusting. I need to shower.” Taehyung replied and threw his shirt at Jungkook. “Oh shit I meant to throw it in the wash-basket behind you” Taehyung mumbled with a blush. He walked into the bathroom, shutting the door behind him. Jungkook quickly dried off and got dressed. He was also starving and wanted to have some breakfast. He decided to wait until Taehyung was done and then go downstairs together.

*Meanwhile*
Namjoon exited Jungkook’s room and ran into Hobi. Before Namjoon could speak, Hobi bombarded him with questions. “Is Jungkook okay? Is Taehyung okay? Also who exactly is the new boy who is staying in Yoongi’s room?” Namjoon sighed. “Jungkook and Taehyung are okay. And I don’t know who the new boy is considering I have never met him” Namjoon replied, rolling his eyes . “Okay…anyway let’s go downstairs. Yoongi and the new boy are waiting. We need to figure out who attacked last night and how to protect us better” Hobi said and started walking. “Wait” Namjoon said pulling Hobi towards him. “Something has changed. Jungkook is acting very different” he whispered. “Why?” Hobi asked, concerned. “He is being extremely caring and loving towards Taehyung. All of his ruthless, rude behaviour seems to disappear when he is with Taehyung. He turns into this kind, sweet and protective person” Namjoon explained with a smile. “Are you telling me that our Jungkook- the evil mastermind and ruthless leader might be falling in love?” Hobi said suggestively. “Yeah, maybe love does that to you. But you know the bad part? He is dating Miss Lisa but seems to have conveniently forgotten that” Namjoon said with a sigh. Hobi ran his hand through his hair. “We don’t have time for this. We need to go downstairs” he told Namjoon and they left. *15 minutes later*
“Now that all of us are here, we need to solve 2 mysteries- who was the man who attacked Taehyung and me last night and why did he attack Taehyung first ?” Yoongi said, addressing everyone. Jungkook set his food down and chuggeddown some water. He started to speak when Jimin shouted. “Wait! Taehyungie
was attacked last night and no one told me?!” he screamed and ran towards
Taehyung. Jimin hugged Taehyung but let go when Taehyung winced in pain.
“What’s wrong V” he asked, concerned. “I was stabbed near my waist”
Taehyung confessed and showed Jimin the bruise. Jimin now had tears in his
eyes. He cupped Taehyung’s face and kissed him on the forehead. Then without
any warning he ran towards Jungkook and slapped him. Yoongi quickly pulled
a very angry Jimin back before things got worse. “You said you would protect
him!” Jimin exclaimed angrily, trying to lunge towards Jungkook. Jungkook
sighed, beyond frustrated. “I get you have this righteous anger towards me but
please, shut the hell up” Jungkook said, coldly. “Hey! Jimin is my friend and
the only one actually worried about me so don’t you dare talk to him like that”
Taehyung said, tightening his hands in a fist. “Taehyung, sit down or else I am
kicking you and your friend out of the room” Jungkook threatened, a look of
hurt flashing in his eyes. Everyone suddenly quietened down and Taehyung sat down with a huff. Jungkook cleared his throat. “Yoongi hyung, did you inspect the body?” Jungkook asked his face devoid of any emotion.
Jimin and Taehyung shuddered. “Not yet. The body is in the basement, with the
ACs blasting” Yoongi replied. “Okay. We need to go to the basement. Jimin
and Taehyung, you two stay right here. Hobi hyung you need to keep an eye on
them.” Jungkook instructed and left along with Namjoon and Yoongi. “I’m
going to go get some iced tea or juice. I am parched” Taehyung declared and
went into the kitchen. He opened the fridge but suddenly memories of last night
came rushing back. The kitchen had no signs of blood anymore. But his brain
couldn’t be bleached. He felt the bile in his stomach rise up and gulped. He
found some juice and quickly left the kitchen, unable to stand there any longer.
*Meanwhile*
Hobi sat across Jimin, feeling awkward. Jimin shifted in his seat uncomfortably.
“So I take you are Taehyung’s friend” Hobi said, trying to reduce the
awkwardness. “Yes. We’ve known each other since forever. We were supposed
to meet one night but that didn’t go very well” Jimin replied, sighing. “So now
you’re stuck in a mafia house” Hobi said with a smile. “Pretty much” Jimin
replied. They fell silent again, not knowing what to talk about. “Why does a
small part of me suspect that there is some history, some complicated past
between Hobi and Yoongi hyung?” Jimin thought to himself. He glanced over
at Hobi who seemed lost in thought. “Yoongi was sharing a bed with this new
guy. He rarely does that. I hope there’s nothing suspicious going on.” Hobi
thought with a painful sigh. They sat their awkwardly and were relieved when
Taehyung came back, holding three glasses and a bottle of iced tea. He pouredone for all of them and they sat in silence, waiting to hear from the others. In that silence lingered uncertainty, pain and defeat.
