Meanwhile

Jungkook entered his room slowly, knowing that Taehyung was inside. He saw Taehyung on the floor, cross-legged, staring at the photo of the tattoo. “This is useless” he said, frustrated, and threw the photo. Jungkook knew that Taehyung was in a fragile state, and so made his way over to him cautiously. He touched Taehyung’s arm. “Don’t” Taehyung said and got up. “You did this to me, you know. You ruined my life. I was fine before I met you; now look at me!” Taehyung screamed, trembling. Jungkook got up and cupped Taehyung’s face. “Look at me, Tae” he said softly. Taehyung refused to meet his eyes and tried to full away. “Taehyung, look at me.” Jungkook said again and tilted Taehyung’s chin slightly. Taehyung looked at Jungkook, his eyes frightened and lips trembling slightly. Jungkook traced Taehyung’s cheekbones with his thumb, resting it onto Taehyung’s lips. He kissed Taehyung on the forehead softly. “Everything will be alright” he whispered to Taehyung softly. Taehyung nodded. Jungkook quickly let go of him and cleared his throat. He walked over to the fallen photograph. “This symbol is rather odd. It’s not any known mafia symbol either. I wonder if it represents something” Jungkook said, looking at it closely. Taehyung sat down beside Jungkook, their shoulders touching. He could feel the warmth of Jungkook’s body. “Should we google it and see if something pops up?” Taehyung suggested. “Sure. Let’s give it a shot” Jungkook said and reached into his pocket to find his phone. “Damn it. I left the phone downstairs” he said exasperated. “Should I go get it?” Taehyung asked, getting up. “No that’s alright. There’s a spare phone in my drawer. Of course you would know all about it” Jungkook said with a smirk. Taehyung blushed. Jungkook opened the drawer and handed the phone over to Taehyung who uploaded the photo to Google images.
“I don’t know why I thought this would work” Taehyung sighed with defeat, setting the phone down. An hour of googling had turned up no useful information. Taehyung leaned onto Jungkook’s shoulder, feeling exhausted. Jungkook patted Taehyung’s thigh as he scrolled through random sites. “Wait, look Taehyung. This is an article on Symbolism which has an image of a symbol similar to the tattooed one” Jungkook said and Taehyung quickly sat upright, looking excited. “Blah blah blah oh here, look. In the Symbolism art movement, this symbol represented the unification of two devils and one angel, all stemming from the same source” Jungkook read out loud as Taehyung listened, his eyes glittering with curiosity. “Stemming from the same source, as in the same ancestry or the same region? Or the same religion?” Taehyung said, his eyebrows furrowed deep in thought. “Yeah it probably means one of those three. But we have no way of knowing the exact answer yet” Jungkook said and set
his phone down. Taehyung quickly noted down what they had read on a small
notepad and lay on the bed with a plop. He was beyond exhausted. “Mr. Jeon,
your phone was ringing in the hall. Mr. Yoongi is on the call, sir” the
housekeeper stood at the door, Jungkook’s phone ringing in her hand. Jungkook
excused himself and left the room to take the call.
Taehyung rolled over in bed, wondering what was taking Jungkook’s call so
long. Suddenly the bed vibrated slightly. Taehyung sat up, slightly startled. He
looked around and realised Jungkook’s spare phone was vibrating. He picked it
up and saw the name ‘Lisa Manoban’ flashing on the screen. He knew he
couldn’t answer the phone so he let it ring. It stopped after half a minute and
Taehyung was about to set it aside when a text popped up on the screen. He
couldn’t help himself and his ever-growing curiosity and read the text. It said
“Jungkook, why aren’t you answering my calls? I wanted to ask you when you
are planning on taking me out again. Anyway, call me back.” Another text
popped up but before Taehyung could read it, Jungkook entered the room,
looking tensed. “Tae-” he said and sat down next to Taehyung on the bed. “I
just talked to Yoongi hyung. Someone claiming to be your uncle came in a few
weeks ago to collect your old yearbooks. The man threatened a student and had
a gun. His face or identity is unknown. Any idea who it might be?” Jungkook
asked. Taehyung shook his head, visibly distressed. He was still thinking about
Lisa and her texts, his heart struggling to accept the fact that Jungkook was
dating someone. He put his face in his palms and sighed, his body trembling
slightly. Jungkook took Taehyung’s hand but Taehyung pushed it away. “Don’t" he said with finality, his voice dangerously calm. Jungkook looked at him,
puzzled. “Who is Lisa Manoban?” Taehyung asked, in the same calm tone.
Jungkook narrowed his eyes at Taehyung. “Where did you get that name from?”
he asked, his voice laced with anger. Taehyung gulped. “I read her texts to you.
You two are dating, huh?” he asked. Jungkook got up. “That
is none of your business” he said angrily. Taehyung looked at Jungkook, his
face devoid of expressions. “Don’t go poking around my private texts again,
Taehyung.” Jungkook warned. Taehyung nodded and got up to leave. “Wait”
Jungkook said and pulled Taehyung back. “What now?” Taehyung asked,
annoyed. “Taehyung, is there any chance your uncle aka the one that raised you
took the yearbook?” he asked. Taehyung narrowed his eyes, pursing his lips. “I
have absolutely no interest in talking to you, Jungkook” he said. Jungkook
walked towards Taehyung and Taehyung backed away until he was pressed
against a wall and had no space to escape. “I don’t know what is going on in
that head of yours but stop being so goddamn difficult and answer the damn question!” Jungkook hissed, his voice low and cold. Taehyung looked down , averting his gaze. “Nope, no chance that that was my uncle. First of all, he has all the copies of my yearbooks. And secondly, he would neither threaten a student nor carry a gun” Taehyung replied. Jungkook nodded and sat down. Taehyung rubbed his temples. “I am going downstairs for a bit. I don’t want to be here” he said and started to leave. “Hey Taehyung?” Jungkook said. Taehyung stopped walking. “Is there a chance you have an uncle you don't know exists?”Jungkook asked. Taehyung stood in the room for a split second before walking out, slamming the door behind him.
