Chapter 19

That's what friends are for.

I step out of Justin's car and he does too, parking his car up and locking it securely.

He grabs my hand as he gets around to my side of the car as we begin walking up to the cafe.

For some reason.. it feels strange him grabbing my hand but I don't know why. I just shrug it off.

"What's up?" Justin notices as we walk into the cafe.

"Nothing" I lie.
"Hey, tell me" he pretends to pout as though it has hurt that I won't tell him.

"Just.. I don't know it felt strange that you held my hand" I mumble.

"Do you not want me to hold your hand?" He asks sounding quite upset.

"No no, it's fine just a bad day I guess" I shrug thinking of this morning.

He nods " I understand.. Just want people to know your my girl is all" and kisses my cheek sweetly and very delicately.

"This your boyfriend?" I hear and look up and see Cole, my friend who works at the bar with me sometimes and helps deliver to tables like me.

"Yeah" I smile.

It's strange like.. some people would think I'm deluded to be being with a guy after only knowing him for a week but.. I feel like I've known Justin for so so much longer.

"I'm going to sit over there babe" Justin announces and points at a table where he normally sits.

"Sure" I smile "I'll bring your order over in a second" he nods before he tells me he wants a mocha and walks away as I put on my apron.

Me and Cole both walk over to the service counter and start serving drinks.

My shift today is not that big of a shift, just a few hours.

"Cole and Jess!" Me and Cole both hear from our boss, Paul and walk over.

"Yeah?" I ask.

"Yes?" Cole speaks politely.

"I'd like you two to work permanently for me and not just as a part time job meaning you have to do a few more hours but I'll pay you a little more and I guess it's better in a way since your one of my best workers" Paul smiles at me, causing me to some back and them he carry's on "so as I was saying you too, Cole are one of my best workers and I would like you both to work the same times and that as I know you two are a good team and keep our customers happy..so what do you say?"

"Thankyou Paul, I'd love to" I grin as I'd like to be earning more money.

"Sure, that'd be great" Cole agrees "thankyou"

Paul nods and the tells us that we both now have to work behind the counter, making coffees any hot drinks or cold drinks and even food as he tells his new employee's Kyle and Stephanie that they need to experience serving customers. I remember my first day working here as a summer job, then I went to part time and now I'm paremanent but am allowed to pick my own hours. I know this job isn't that good but it'll do for now I guess.

Me and Cole both stand next to eachother as we make coffee's and hot drinks and leave them on the counter for Kyle and Stephanie to serve.

"So.. that boy treat you well then?" Cole asks breaking the silence of concentrating on making the hot drinks that I was currently making.

"Yeah, he's pretty great" I smile, not looking at him but still down at the mugs.

He sighs "shame" I hear him mumble very very quietly, but somehow I hear him.

"What is?" I question confused.

"What?"

"You just said shame.. whats a shame?" I question.

"Oh I said same not shame" he says which still doesn't make sense either.

"Order for table 5" I announce and hand it to Stephanie as she waits to serve.

"Didn't know you had a boyfriend" Cole mumbles "not surprised though really, a beautiful girl like you? Please of course you have a boyfriend" he says and rolls his eyes which I see.

"Well I didn't upon till like a few days ago" I shrug "not had a boyfriend since Sam"

"Two years? Really!" He exclaims as though it's a big thing.

"Not really ever bothered with boys like they're all just confusing and lead you on and that the majority of the time, some of them are no good to be wasting your time on" I shrug. It's true. the amount of boys I've spoke to over the few years we've lasted talking for a couple of days or sometimes weeks until we kiss or something and then you never hear from again. Most boys are stupid if you ask me.

"That's surpsiring" he mumbles "they should spend time with you, and not lead you on, your a beautiful and intelligent girl Jess" he smiles to me.

"Thanks Cole" I smile.

"That's what friends are for" he replys and announces that the order for table 8 is ready.

I notice Justin walk over to the counter I'm at and I look up and smile.

"Hey babe" he smiles back.

"Hi" I grin and Cole sighs and walks away to the store room, probably to get more stock.

"I'm going now, my dad wants help here's the money" he places the lonely on the counter top and winks "see you soon babe, I'll pick you up in the morning"

"See you soon Justin" I smile and he walks out of the shop.

I'm surprised he even stayed that long considering we didn't get to talk that much.

But it's not like I can just stop working just because I have a boyfriend now.

Cole comes back with a load of supplies and we fill the box's with coffee beans, tea bags, sachets of flavourings, and all other stuff like that and we both carry on with our setjob. Talking about random things with Cole.

Its good to have a friend like him.

So I'm sort of going to introduce you to more characters as you can probably tell, like for instance Cole in this chapter.
