Sunstreaker's vengeance ✔️ (book 1)

31. frozen

I had driven for at least an hour, the snow was still coming from the sky and didn't seem to stop any time soon. Because of this, I had to drive slowly and make sure Sideswipe didn't slip. I also was on the look for Decepticons. During the drive, I hadn't spoken much to Sideswipe. "Sideswipe?" he hummed in response. "I lost your brother somewhere on a hill... can you feel him or something?" I asked. "Yes... I can feel his presence..." he said. "I just reached the hill where I lost him, I decided to drive around it to avoid the Decepticons..." I said as I stopped and cut his engine. "Give me a second..." I grabbed my phone and dialed my uncle's number.

"Skylar?"

"Hi... are you mad?" I asked. My uncle didn't reply immediately. I guess he's not happy at all. "We really need to talk about handling things on your own without a plan..." he finally said. "Alright, I found Sideswipe... but we have a problem," I said. "You found, Sideswipe? Where is Sunstreaker?" he asked. "Where are you?" I asked. "Close to Wyoming... thanks to you we had to leave as soon as we figured out you had left with Sunstreaker. No time to make a plan," he said, a little bit angry. "Sideswipe is blind... and Sunstreaker is in stasis lock," I said. "For so far, I only spotted Starscream and Motormaster but something is off, they didn't chase when we escaped, it's odd," I said.

"It can be an ambush, maybe they are calling for back-up," my uncle said. "Wait... I put you on speaker," I said before removing the phone from my ear and put him on speaker. "You're on speaker," I said. "Sideswipe, are you okay?" my uncle asked. "My optics are damaged, I can't see or see anything on my scanners... Without Skylar, I was never able to escape," he said. "Listen... there's something I need to tell, it's important," Sideswipe said. "We have no time for that now, Sideswipe... we need to find your twin before Motormaster will and the weather isn't getting better, we need to find him now," I said.

"What happened to Sunstreaker?" My uncle asked. "He collapsed, hit his head when he was climbing on a hill and it knocked him out, his systems are freezing," I said. "Wait a moment, I put you on speaker as well," he said. I heard my uncle call out for Ratchet. "Ratchet?" I asked. "I am here," I heard him grumble. In the background, I was able to hear the plane, and the wind slamming against the metal frame. They were indeed close...

"Sunstreaker is frozen... how do we warm him up?" I asked. "Listen... it's dangerous for our systems, normally we have an internal system that keeps us warm in extreme weather, but now he's knocked out, it doesn't function," he said. "So what do we do? I mean we are in the middle of nowhere in a heavy blizzard! I already almost froze to death last night," I said. "Same way as to how you warm up humans, it's the only way to restart his systems. He can die..."

"How long before you arrive?" I asked. "with luck within an hour," my uncle said. "what do you want us to do?" I asked. "I mean... Sideswipe is damaged, he's not able to see and I can't help Susntreaker on my own and the Decepticons are close, like on the other side of the damn hill," I said.

"We will be here as soon as possible, try to find him and protect him in the best way you can," My uncle stated. I sighed "Alright... please hurry," I said. "We will be with you as soon as possible," Ratchet said. "Sides and I see what we can do..." I sighed, rubbing my face.

"So what's the plan?" Sideswipe asked. "What do you see?" he asked. "A huge snow-covered hill... with trees and rocks... as you feel it's still snowing and somewhere around the top is your brother... I think. It was night so I didn't really know where I lost him," I said.  "You have to transform... and I think there's an avalanche danger..." I said. "That's great..." Sideswipe said sarcastically.

"Just follow my voice..." I said, trying to open the door but he refused. "You will suffer from hypothermia," he said. "I want to get your brother... we need to help him," I said, opening the door and stepped outside. "Good lord it's cold," I scowled, walking through the thick snow. I heard Sideswipe transform around me. "Just try to follow my voice, okay?" I asked. "I'll try..." he mumbled.
