48. Battle

Sideswipe woke me up the next day, "We need to leave," he whispered, caressing my cheek. I groaned a little, opening my eyes. "Everyone is already awake," he added, freeing himself from me. Sunlight sliced through the window, falling on my face. I looked up at him as he held his hand out. "I think your uncle can arrive any moment," he said as I grabbed his hand. He hoists me up and I end up against his chest. "Do you promise not to make stupid decisions?" he asked. "Nothing will happen! I swear!" he stated, nuzzling his nose with mine. "I try my best," I said, wrapping my arms around his neck. "I just hope this is over soon..." I said quietly. "Everyone knows what and who I am..." I added. "What if they decide I am dangerous... what if they want to use me?" I asked. "You're a hybrid... you're under our protection," Sideswipe stated, pressing his lips on mine.

"It's not a concern for now anyways... we need to go, we need to meet up with N.E.S.T," he stated. I gave a small nod and let go of him. Sideswipe's holoform disappeared, leaving some silver twinkles behind. Leaving the room, I then saw Sunstreaker sitting on the stairs, playing with his knife, or well, I think he's deep in thoughts. He looked up as he noticed me "Skylar..." he got up but I raised my hand. "leave me alone, Sunstreaker... Sideswipe is waiting for me outside," I growled, passing him. "Can you please hear me out for a moment?" he asked. "Why?" I snapped, turning towards him. "I don't want to hear whatever you have on your mind. I am not interested! No one is..." I growled. "You need to listen... please," he tried, but I pushed him aside and walked off.

Within ten minutes we were back on the road, not for long though. Sunstreaker soon enough got off the road, driving into the desert. When Sunstreaker slowed down, Sideswipe and Bumblebee did too. He transformed and crouched down behind a rock. "What's wrong?" Sideswipe asked without transforming. "I sense Decepticons..." he pointed at the sky. "Starscream..." I sulked as he flew over into the direction we had to go as well. "Do you think he spotted us?" I asked. "Maybe, I don't know..." Sunstreaker replied. I hopped out, looking up at the sky. "Maybe we should split up... we are close, aren't we?" I asked. "Meeting point is a couple of miles away... but close to the pyramid," Sunstreaker replied without looking.

"I think the Decepticons know we are coming, otherwise they wouldn't patrol," Sideswipe said as he transformed as well and knelt down. "I don't think we can get close enough to the machine... but maybe we can clear the way for you," Sunstreaker looked down at me. "You can destroy it... do you still have the weapon I once gave you?" he asked. I gave a small nod "Do you have it with you?" I asked. I gave a small nod "In Sideswipe's trunk," I said. "We will clear the way for you..." he said.

"No! She's a huge target and you're risking her life!" Sideswipe snapped. "Do you have a better plan?" Sunstreaker snarled. "Yes! We talk to Prime... you're not in charge, you will never be in charge..." Sideswipe spat out venomously. Sunstreaker clenched his jaws together "We split up, so we don't track too much attention! But that's it!" he sneered. I sighed, shaking my head a little. "Come on, love," Sideswipe said, transforming. Sunstreaker looked at me for a split second before I hopped in. "We go to the left..." Sideswipe declared before he drove off. "That idiot lost his mind," Sideswipe snarled. "I actually think he's right even though I dislike him," Simmons said. "If my opinion counts," he sarcastically commented. I rolled my eyes, like Sunstreaker already predicted, the Decepticons probably knew we were here, they were patrolling around the area, especially the seekers like Starscream.

We arrived in a small town, the other Autobots were already there. Sideswipe let us out and me picked up from the floor. Optimus approached, looking at me before he looked at Sunstreaker, his optics became hard. "Look who's back," Ironhide growled, glaring at Sunstreaker. They surrounded him "Why is he even here? This traitor doesn't belong here," Mirage snapped, walking a circle around him. "You called me traitor so many times... while you're the traitor!" He sneered. "Why would we trust you again? Maybe you informed the Decepticons already," Jolt snapped.
