I took one last look in the mirror before completely leaving my penthouse. Wearing a casual white hoodie paired with a faded denim jeans, completed by my white nike sneakers.
I pressed on my keys as soon as I arrived at the basement parking lot. It made a beeping sound that echoed throughout the whole space.
As the drive on my way to my parents house went by quietly, I can't help but reminisce what happened last night.
Even a word or a shadow of Myoui Mina is untraceable even after waiting for almost five hours. No one from the Myoui's even notified us that she wouldn't come and kept me waiting there like a madman.
Well, they did actually notified us, after I left the restaurant six fucking hours late. I was mad and frustrated that I was awake the whole night thinking of it.
Until now, I haven't got enough sleep. I would sleep the whole day if I want to, but I promised my parents that I would have lunch with them today at home, that's why I'm on my way there right now.
As soon as I stepped inside the house, I was enticed by delicious smells of different foods. They sure make lots of foods whenever I come home, too much for a meal of three if you ask me.
Other than the food, I was welcomed with a warm hug coming from my parents. Talking about how we missed each other before proceeding to the dining room and eat the lunch that my mom cooked and prepared herself.
She said she wanted to feed her baby with the food that she made, since I don't come home too often. Mom is a good mother a good wife and a good cook, me and umma agree to that.
"Darling, why aren't you answering your phone last night?" My mom asked in the middle of the meal, I remembered I was about to ask her about the 28 missed calls that she left last night too.
"I left my phone in Dahyun's car mom, I got it this morning. Why are you calling though, did something happen last night?" I asked worriedly this time, it's unusual to receive various calls from my mom in a span of one night. She actually barely calls me, she's more on visiting me and meeting with me.
"No, darling. Your friend was here last night. She waited for like six or seven hours?" Umma said that made me shot up a confused look on her.
I don't remember agreeing to meet up with a friend yesterday.
"Who?" I furrowed my brows as I looked at my parents back and forth, waiting for an answer.
"Your friend back in high school. What's her name again honey?" My mom asked umma and I averted my eyes to her.
"I think it was Mina."
"What?!" I reacted a little bit too much, that made my parents almost jumped out of their seats in surprise.
I felt sorry for that, but seriously? Mina was here last night? Why?
"W-why was she here? Did she s-say anything?" I nervously asked, worried that Mina might've spilled something that my parents didn't know.
Something like, we dated back in high school or something like I studied in Japan because of her when I begged her to come back to me.
Well, don't get me wrong for keeping it a secret, I didn't tell that to my parents because I was so young back then. And like I said before, they're really conscious about my studies, so that'll disappoint them, especially mom.
Other than Mina, they knew about Sana and Momo. I have told them and they were the most supportive about it. Except the fact that Sana cheated on me and that Momo left me out of the blue, no one knew about that except me and my two other bestfriends.
"Are you hiding anything from us?" Umma suddenly asked in her authoritative voice that scared the shit out of my system.
I knew it, she'll smell something out of ordinary because of the way that I reacted after hearing about Mina. My umma is smart like that, you can't fool her.
I suddenly came from being a tiger to being a scared little kitten hiding under my mother's skirt.
More than anything in the world, umma hates it when people lies to her. And I just did lie to her, maybe it's the end of me then?
"I-I uhm, M-mina was my uhm--" I hesitated after a few words, but after looking at how scary umma was looking at me, I gathered all of the confidence I could get in this world to tell them the truth. "Mina was my ex girlfriend." I said in a rush before averting my eyes under the table where my fiddling hands could be found. "Back then I begged you to let me study in Japan to follow her. She broke up with me and I-I followed her there to beg her to come back to me." I lifted my eyes and I was welcomed with the eyes of my parents looking at me with either visible concern or disappointment. "I'm sorry Umma." I mumbled and turned my head to look at mom. "I'm sorry mom."
I hid my face looking down at the floor. I can't bear to look at them.
"Don't worry about it baby. It's all in the past." Mom said and I turned to look at umma who just let out a sigh before messing my hair like a little kid.
"It's okay darling. I understand." She said and just gave me a smile. I don't feel scared now, I feel relieved for this instead. "But, your friend, i mean your ex girlfriend, Mina." Umma added.
"Yes umma, what about her?" I asked as I grabbed a glass of water to drink.
"She's still here." Mom said and I was thrown into a fit of coughing immediately after I choked up on my water.
"W-where?" I asked again when I finally calmed down, wanting to receive a different answer from them.
But the hope was gone when they both pointed at the living room, where they said, Mina is sleeping.
