3 Days Later
"It doesn't make sense!" Dahyun said and slammed the table. "We accepted it, we accepted the damn fact that you got married out of the blue, but this? This is cruel Chaeyoung." She said as she walked back and forth in front of me.
I can feel their frustrations because of me, and I can understand their point I really do, but I don't know to myself either.
"You called us here to tell us that you're accepting an investment deal from your ex girlfriend?" Jihyo unnie asked in disbelief.
I sighed and stood up to defend myself. "I'm still not accepting it, that's why I'm asking for your opinion." I said and they all shook their heads.
I called them here to help me decide on whether to accept Mina's deal after half of the investors stick to their decisions and rejected us. I'm having a hard time deciding.
"Just accept it. It can't be bad, it's business." Tzuyu voiced out her opinion that earned a glare from Dahyun and a confused look from Jihyo unnie.
"Number one rule in business is to set personal feelings aside." Sana suddenly cut in.
Tzuyu looked at her with her brows furrowed. "Excuse me? Why are you here again?" She asked and the latter seemed offended.
"Because I'm the engineer asshole." She fired back, and my tall friend doesn't seem to be so happy about it.
"So you're someone who's not so important? Consider giving people personal space Ms. Engi-nosy."
"What's your problem? I'm backing you up here aren't I?" Sana said annoyed.
Jihyo unnie doesn't seem to enjoy the chastise so she signalled Tzuyu to not talk back anymore. Of course she did as told, it's Jihyo unnie.
"Anyways, what should I do? The decision is due today." I slumped back on my seat and held my forehead.
"Simply reject it." Dahyun said and sat infront of me. "Don't complicate things even more Chaeyoung." She looked at me with seriousness in her eyes.
"Dahyun is right Chae, you married Momo and I don't think she'd be happy about it. Just take the easier path." Jihyo unnie added.
Tzuyu stood infront all of us with her arms crossed, we all looked at her. "Then you'll have to delay the project Chaeyoung." She said and I furrowed my brows in the thought of failing on my plans. "We all know that you lack resources, Momo isn't enough, the other investors already rejected you and the small ones that are left are surely not enough to fill in the needs of your project."
I think for a few seconds and I realized that she's not wrong.
"You know that we can't help you Chae even if we want to. Japan is not our business' area. You either wait for a few years for new investors, or cancel the project." Tzuyu struck all of us with the reality. "Being timid just because you don't want your personal life to be a little complicated isn't professional Chaeyoung. You have to choose on either freeing your parents from your father or being in chains all your life."
Everyone went silent because we all know that she's right. My friends are scared that I'll get hurt again, as so am I, that's why we wanted to pick the choice where I can avoid that.
But that's not how life works, it's not pure ease with happiness, we tend to get hurt as we go on. That's where the three of us are wrong, I can't avoid Mina forever. Tzuyu was right, I have to be practical if I want this project to succeed.
So I made my decision, if I can balance everything and keep it as business only, then maybe I'll succeed in getting through this.
I had my assistant to call Mina and say that I agreed to the deal. Dahyun and Jihyo unnie didn't argue further, maybe they realized that we're all wrong for thinking too much ahead of us.
Tzuyu tapped my shoulder, "If you need more of my help, I'm just a few hotels away." She said and bid goodbye to go back to her hotel.
Dahyun and Jihyo unnie stood up. "I'm sorry for thinking so unprofessional dude." Dahyun said and offered me a hug, I stood up and accepted it.
"It's okay, I know you're just worried about me." I said and smiled at them. Jihyo unnie approached me and also gave me a hug.
"We have to go now Chae. If you also need us, we're at the same hotel as Tzuyu." Jihyo unnie said and I nodded at them before they wave goodbye.
I have such great friends, and I'm more than grateful for that even if fate refuses to give me a love life that isn't complicated.
Sana already left. She said she'll check the site in person.
As for me, I headed to my room. But as I walked inside I saw that Momo was standing infront of the window, probably waiting for me. I made my way over and stood beside her.
"What are you thinking about?" I asked and she looked at me with worry and sadness in her eyes.
"I heard from your assistant that you accepted Mina's deal. Is that true?" She asked as she avoided my eyes.
I let out a heavy sigh and carefully turned her to face me. "Momo, I know this is hard to accept for you. But that's the right thing to do."
I can feel that she's mad at me so I pulled her into my embrace, hoping I could atleast assure her by doing this.
"I'm just scared Chaeyoung, I'm scared to have you taken away from me." She confessed as she held on to me tighter.
"I already made a decision Momo, it may be rash and I may not put a lot of thought into it but I chose you. I chose to be with you, and I promise I'll take responsibility for my decision." I pushed her slightly and faced her. "All you have to do is trust me." I smiled at her and I think I succeed on assuring her.
I may not be good with judgement, but I'm not the type of person who wouldn't take account of their decisions. I married Momo, and I will stand with what I already done.
I'll stay with her for as long as I can, because that's what I signed up for when I decided to marry her.
This is the life that I chose, so I'll live my life as that.
