A white envelope packed with loads of cash and a scholarship is on the table, offered to the girl sitting across a man who gave this offer to her earlier.
She was hella confused because the man is a stranger to her eyes. She doesn't recall having a memory of this guy nor she knows what his intentions are.
She just knows that what the man is offering will surely guarantee her future. But she can't settle with accepting it without knowing anything.
"I don't get what's this supposed to mean." The girl tried to clarify on why would a stranger suddenly approached her with such an enticing offer. 'It couldn't be for nothing right?' She thought.
"Think of this as a compensation. All you have to do is do what we tell you and it's all yours." The man said with a beam on his face, but the girl is having some bad thoughts about this.
"I still don't get what you are saying Mister. But if you expect me to do something illegal for you I would gladly decline this offer." She tried to refuse, but the guy just laughed off her answer.
"No, no. You just need to do one thing and it's obviously legal." The man then turned serious all of a sudden. "Make Ms. Son hate you. Hate you to the point that she doesn't ever want to see you again." The man proposed, and the girl was surprised to hear it.
"What kind of a fucking bullshit is that?!" The girl suddenly got overwhelmed with anger. The man tapped the table with his nails and looked at the girl seriously.
"This bullshit is my work." He glowered at her. He finds the words of the girl as a very insulting way to describe his job. "I'm just a person who makes sure that I can fulfill what my boss wanted me to do. And one of my job is to secure the future of the heir, and having you near her makes you a part of our work. This is not bullshit miss, this is called future making." The man in suit said then handed the girl a pen. "You just need to sign this and I'll forget all the curses you had just said to me." He said almost commanding. The girl looked at the money and the paper infront of her.
"Am I that big of a threat to have you get rid of me like this?" The girl said, trying to suppress herself on making a scene. "I only need Chaeyoung and I'm in no need of your money or those flashy offers you're giving me. I may be young but I have dignity, so if you'll excuse me I'll leave now." She stood up, but she was surprised when the man let out an annoying beam instead.
"Why don't you visit your mother at the prison miss?" The man suddenly asked and gather the cash and scholarship in his hands.
"What the hell did you just mean by that?"
"I actually knew you would refuse my offer, so I instinctively came up with a plan B." The man chuckled. "They were actually saying the truth when they said you're a dignified person. But guess what? Dignity is for fools only." He stood up and faced the girl. "If you want Ms. Chaeyoung, go and have her. If you can live thinking that your mom is sleeping in the cold floors inside the four corners of prison, I won't stop you." The man grinned.
The girl didn't waste more time on him and just ran away to confirm if the guy was really telling the truth. She came home calling out for her mom, but she was welcomed with a deafening silence and an empty space, no sign of her mother.
She soon received a call from a precinct confirming everything that the man had just said to her. Her mother is really in prison for something that she hasn't done, it was purely manipulated but no one could do anything about it because they're on the weaker opponent.
She wasn't aware that such power exists in this world. A power that could make a victim the suspect. A power that could kill what makes you happy. A power that rules all. It was disgusting for her.
She sat in the cold wooden floor of their home and hugged her knees, crying in hunger and pain, she couldn't believe she had to go through this just because she loved someone. She never knew that having Son Chaeyoung in her life could make everyday miserable for her.
A day without her mother felt like she died during that whole time. She loves Chaeyoung but before Chaeyoung there was her mother, her mother who loves her and a mother who's always there for her.
She doesn't want to but she have to choose only one, and it was the hardest part because she doesn't want to lose either of them.
Having the decision on losing her lover just to freed her mom, it sure messed up her life. But it also made her stronger, stronger enough to be determined to give birth to a new her who is powerful enough to get back what's supposed to be hers.

"Engagement?" Chaeyoung almost spit out her food hearing what her parents has to say.
"Yes Chaeyoung. We both are getting old and it's better if we rush things, you have to take over the company soon anyways." Jeongyeon excitedly said beaming a smile, not knowing that her daughter had a different opinion this time.
"But I don't want to get married anymore umma." Chaeyoung tried to be as confident as possible as she said those. Jeongyeon and Nayeon both looked at her surprised.
"This was so sudden Chae. I thought we already agreed on this." Jeongyeon disappointedly said to her daughter. Chaeyoung couldn't help but feel bad.
"I know, and I really want to do what you wanted me to. But now I have someone that I really wanna marry." Chaeyoung tried to express herself as sincere as possible. "I want to marry Mina, umma." She confessed and her parents both looked surprisingly disappointed at her.
"You can't marry Mina, Chaeyoung." Nayeon suddenly spat and Chaeyoung looked at her so confused.
"Mom what are you saying? Didn't you said you'll support me with whatever?" Chaeyoung sounded so disappointed also, thinking that she hoped for her mom to be the first person to boost her up.
Both sides looked so disappointed with each other for backing out with the words they had already said. But no one wants this to turn into a fight.
"I would support you Chaeyoung." Nayeon held her daughter's hands. "But you can't marry someone who's already married to someone else." Nayeon sincerely said to her daughter out of worry, but Chaeyoung just felt something light up inside her.
"Mom you're mistaken, Mina is divorced." Chaeyoung still calmly tried to handle the situation even if she knows that she is suppressing something inside. Something that'll create chaos if would be let out.
"Is that what she told you? That she is divorced?" Jeongyeon sarcastically asked, dropping all the utensils in her hand.
"Of course. What else would she supposed to be telling me?" Chaeyoung was frustrated, this is the first time she talked back to her parents.
"She should tell you how much she had made a fool of you! You're having an affair Chaeyoung!" Jeongyeon angrily rebuked at her.
Chaeyoung was taken aback by her mother's rage. She never knew a day would come that her mother would get angry at her like that.
She just stood up and clenched her fist, trying not to fight back and trying to keep her respect for her parents.
"Excuse me." Chaeyoung just said and ran away.
She ran away to the place she really wanted to go, to the woman that she adore the most. The woman that she had learned to love again for the second time around. The woman she never wanted to lose. The woman that she never wanted to believe to be lying to her. She just wanted to ask Mina and hear her say 'No, I'm not lying to you'. That's all that she wanted.
While in the house where Chaeyoung left her parents, in both Jeongyeon and Nayeon's mind, it is time for Chaeyoung to face the reality.
The reality that she couldn't love just anyone.
