The Dorms

The nice thing about Hell High was the dorms. I expected slum-style apartments with cockroaches and upstairs neighbors who only communicated by screaming at one another. But the dorms were clean, surprisingly well lit, and had in-house wi-fi. Each student had their own room with an attached bath, so no awkward communal shower experiences. Though, that probably had to do with the fact that the dorms were not segregated by gender.

My room was on the second floor, in a quiet section of the hallway. Flipping on the light, I saw a replica of my bedroom from Earth. Each detail was exactly the way I had left it the morning that car had smacked my soul clean out of my body. Even the obnoxious (favorite band) poster hanging above my bed my mother had hated so much.

At the thought of my mother, a tear slid down my cheek. She would still be alive for years and years, and even then might still go to heaven. After all, she was the one who had drug me out of bed every Sunday for church when I was a kid.

Wiping my eyes, I chuckled to myself. I had to be the only demon in hell crying for my mommy. Thank goodness no one else was around to see that, I would be the laughing stock of the school.

"I heard you and Smiles got chummy in music class," Angel's voice said from behind me. I spun around to see the lanky spider demon standing there with a smile on his face.

"Yeah, we talked about music for a bit." I replied.

Angel started to say something, but caught sight of the poster above my bed, "Is that the newest (favorite band) poster?"

Looking back over my shoulder, I shrugged, "Yeah, and I've got their CD around here somewhere. Want to listen?"
