The theater was packed.
The only seats Alastor and I could find were at the very back. We managed to sit down just as the lights dimmed and the movie began.
"Thanks for coming out with me tonight." Alastor leaned over and whispered in my ear. I turned and gave him a small smile as I squeezed his hand in reply. Someone shushed us in the row ahead of us, and Alastor chuckled and shrugged.
It had been a long time since I watched Silence of the Lambs. However, I could not concentrate on the movie with Alastor holding my hand. The dumb girly side of my brain that cared about that sort of stuff was working in overdrive. Before I knew it, the movie was over and the lights were coming back on.
"I haven't seen that movie in forever," Alastor said as we walked out of the theater.
"It's a classic," I replied, "It's always worth watching every now and then."
We were chatting about classes on the way back when my phone pinged. I looked at the notification and saw Angel had tagged me in a Hellbook post.
"It's the video," I said a little breathlessly, watching my past self punch Cassy in her face while covered in sticky sweet coffee.
"Hey," Alastor's voice was soft, and his finger lifted my chin up so I was looking at him instead of the phone. I met his crimson gaze expecting judgment, but he was giving me a look of understanding and compassion.
"That's the real story," He said, "Now Cassy is called out and everyone knows what a liar she is."
I smiled and nodded, but our gaze still remained locked, seemingly freezing time. After what felt like an eternity, he leaned in and gently kissed me.
