Tahimik akong nag-aaral nang biglang kumalabog ang pinto ko at iniluwa si Ate. Mukhang siyang galit at handa ng mang-away.

"Oh, Ate?" I said.

Niyugyog niya ang katawan ko na parang nang-gigigil. Problema ni Ate? Atsaka, bakit siya nandito e dapat nasa manila siya?

"Break na pala kayo?! You didn't even tell me?"

My jaw dropped. "Ha?"

"Ha?" She mocked me.

I laughed. "Sino ba?" Luh, nagtanong pa ako e iisa  lang naman ex ko!

"Caius!"

"Oh," usal ko at kumamot sa ulo. "Matagal na, Ate."

"Bakit nga hindi mo manlang nabanggit saakin?! Gosh, I probably looked like an idiot for a second there!" She fanned herself.

I tilt my head. "Huh? Saan?"

"Oh my god, Jeicah! You don't have an idea! My gosh, nakakahiya!" She said while covering her face like she was really embarrassed over something.

"Ate! What is it? Ang gulo!" Sigaw ko.

"I bumped into your ex at the mall and guess what I said?"

"What?"

"I said, 'hey, long time no see! How are you?' And he was looking at me weirdly and then he awkwardly answered, 'maayos naman po.' And then I said, 'did you talk to Jei? Long distance relationship is hard but I know you two will get through it. Anyway, if you talk to my sister, please do me a favor and tell her that I'm going home next next day, okay? Thank you! I lost my phone and I'm just about to buy a new one. Luckily, I bumped into you. Thanks again, Caius. And then I walked away. I was wondering the whole time why his face looked like that! He looked uneasy! Iyon pala, break na kayo! My gosh! What did you do, Blythe?!" Ate told me. I don't know how to react. Should I laugh at her or should I feel embarrassed too because of everything she said to Cai? I don't know.

"You surely is pretty talkative, Ate. Wow," I even clapped my hands for her.

"Ugh, Jei! You're not helping! By the way, did he... message you or something?"

"Uh," I reached my phone. "I don't know. I turned my phone off since I'm studying." I said and turned my phone on.

"Naks naman!" Kantyaw ni Ate. "Malapit na graduation niyo, right?"

"Malayo pa, Ate. Four months pa."

"Mabilis lang 'yon. Blakey will stay here for a while para may kasama ka."

"It's not like I can't manage to be alone, though." I shrugged. True. They literally can't leave me alone in this house. If Papa is out, Blake should be in since Ate is in Manila. If Blakey had an emergency, my cousins would come over so I won't be alone here. Ewan ko ba sakanila. They treat me like a baby. It's okay, though. It's flattering, you know.

"Still. You shouldn't be alone. Mahirap na. Madami pa namang ganap dito. Baka mamaya malooban tayo tapos mag-isa ka lang dito. Baka mapano ka."

"Ate, ang daming bodyguards." Paalala ko.

"You know what, just study instead of contradicting every word I say, hmm? Good night!" She kissed my cheek.

I chuckled. "G'night."

I checked my phone after she left and in my surprise, I have a notification from Instagram. And... it's a DM from...

@cjjavier: Hey. Uuwi raw Ate mo. She lost her phone so she asked me a favor to sent you a message.
