Edward entered the room that he usually used for counseling the loved ones of the recently deceased, the same room he used last night for the soul retrieval.

He noticed that the candle had blown out overnight. After tidying up, he took the candle, walked over to his office and placed it on his desk. Pulling out a lighter from the desk drawer, he relit the candle as he said a prayer that he had memorized from the internet.

In your hands, O Lord,
we humbly entrust our brothers and sisters.
In this life you embraced them with your tender love; deliver them now from every evil and bid them eternal rest.

The old order has passed away:
welcome them into paradise,
where there will be no sorrow, no weeping or pain, but the fullness of peace and joy
with your Son and the Holy Spirit
forever and ever. Amen

Deciding that this whole situation had gotten a bit out of hand, he decided to say a second prayer as well.

Father, we stand before you today in confidence because we know that death has nothing on us who believe in you. Have compassion for those who have departed this world recently. Show them tender mercies, for they have sinned in one way or another before their sudden demise. We may have questioned and said things that are not pleasing to you. Lord, show us compassion and help us to accept what has happened so that we can heal. Amen.

Staring at the dancing candle flame, Edward was still thinking about Susannah's soul tethered and bond to the stuffed lamb. What have I done? Could it be possible dear lord, that Susannah is now a ghost?

Lord, I know that there are no coincidences that you have a perfect plan set out for all of us. I am grateful that you chose a lamb for her soul to be attached to. Very symbolic. A lamb to symbolize innocence, purity, gentleness, and representing Christ as both suffering and triumphant. They say God works in mysterious ways, and I would say that last night was one of those moments.

Still frustrated with how he felt, Edward, picked up the phone and dialed.
