Chapter 29

Lexi was daydreaming in the shower about last night's events when the ringing of her cell phone brought her attention back to the present moment.

Quickly getting out of the shower, she answered a bit out of breath. "Hello."

"Hi Alexandra, I am calling to make sure you are okay from last night's ordeal. How are you doing?" Reverend Hawthorne asked. He had to remember to be more professional and not let his personal feelings of desire for her cloud his judgment. Thank God, I am not a priest.

"Great. I feel so at peace knowing that Susannah's soul is out of the Void."

"About that. Alexandra, I do not feel right about what happened last night. I feel that you guys tricked me. I thought we were saving your sister's soul and bringing her to Heaven. Not attaching her to a doll."

"Stuffed lamb, to be exact." Lexi felt hurt. She thought Edward was on her side. She thought he understood the amount of pain she was in knowing that her sister was in trouble.

"Sorry, toy lamb. I do not agree with what we did last night. A soul should not be attached to anything. I believe all souls must be free and go into the light. All souls need to ascend into Heaven so it can live in eternal bliss. In the Bible, Ecclesiastes 12:7, it says, the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.

I blame myself. I had no proof that there was even a problem with Susannah's soul. I took it on your word that there was. I did a terrible dishonor to the memory of your sister. Your sister is not supposed to be attached to a stuffed toy.

Alexandra, I believe that this is your bizarre way of grieving, and you need help. I think it is time that you went to see a professional over this obsession."

Dumbfounded from what she just heard, she replied, "Thank you, Reverend for your concern, I will not need your services again." She hung-up on him.

Staring at the candle, Edward hung up the phone, knowing that all he could do now and before it was too late, was pray for both Alexandra's and Susannah's souls to be saved.
