Cedric and I fell asleep in the common room, and I woke up in his arms to the sound of a few giggling students walking past us.

"Cedric!" He popped up from his spot on the sofa, almost knocking me down with him.

"Gee, we were up late weren't we?"

"I can't believe people saw us here together, this is so embarrassing."

Ernie Macmillan made a kissy face at the two of us and I replied with a nice hand gesture that Cedric did not approve of.

"Are we late for breakfast?" He asked.

I looked up at the clock, "We still have 15 minutes before it ends, let's go."

We ran to the dining hall, grabbed ourselves a bowl of cereal and ate as fast as we could. Because we hadn't gotten ready yet we knew we had to eat quickly so we could get changed before class started.

After almost inhaling our Corn Flakes, we sprinted to our dorms, put on our uniforms, grabbed our books, and left for our separate classes.

My first class was Transfiguration, which I was quite good at.  Hermione and I were at the top of our class, however even she at some points had a bit of trouble with some of the material. It came very easily to myself, however I still admired how hard she worked.  She was the smartest girl I knew.

I stumbled into class right on time and sat next to a random boy.  I watched him fiddle with a green apple, and I immediately panicked as soon as I realized who I was next to.

Draco Malfoy.

I frantically looked around the room to see if there were any open seats, but before I could do anything about the situation, Professor McGonagall walked into the room.

Draco was too busy talking to his goons Crabbe and Goyle to notice me, which I was quite thankful for. I'm sure he knew there was someone next to him, he just chose to not acknowledge it.  I just hoped that he would choose to not acknowledge it for the rest of class, maybe even the rest of the year? I knew it was a silly idea, but the last thing I wanted was to talk to him after our breakup.

I guess Professor McGonagall decided that it would be a fun idea to make my life miserable, as she made eye contact with me and then began her lecture to the class.

"Students, let's take a moment to introduce ourselves to your partners, as they will be your assigned ones for the rest of the year."

I seriously thought that woman had gone mental. The rest of the year? When had we ever had assigned partners? She was seriously out to get me.

I had no choice but to turn and face Draco Malfoy. As soon as he saw me next to him, he dropped the apple he had been playing with, and stared at me in confusion.

"Hi Draco." I said with an awkward smile.

He didn't respond. His jaw still hanging in the air. I guess I too would be very bewildered if my ex decided to sit next to me in a class, especially if that ex was the reason I was sent to a hospital at the end of the school year.

"Hello." He finally responded, with a cool monotone voice. I could tell he was definitely not over our breakup.

Professor McGonagall interrupted the awkward tension and began the lesson. She handed us each a wooden block and said to try to transfigure it into our school pets. I focused on the image of my pet owl, Zeus. He was a large Great Horned owl, with golden brown feathers and bright yellow eyes. With the image of Zeus embedded in my mind, I successfully transfigured the wooden block into my owl. The class applauded and McGonagall gave me a thumbs up.

"5 points for Hufflepuff!" She announced.

I turned to see Draco struggling with his block. I decided to do what was right and offer him a bit of help.

"Draco if you're having trouble just clear your mind and picture every little detail about-"

"I don't need your help." He snapped at me, I was taken aback by his rude behavior, but nonetheless I didn't know what else to expect. Our breakup was not the greatest, and he probably was still very upset with me.

"Draco I'm really sorry about what happened and if I could take it all back I would."

"You still wouldn't want me though would you, even if our split wasn't so terrible."

My lips pursed. He was right, I didn't really love him, and I never actually did.

"That's not the point. Just because we can't be together romantically, doesn't mean we can't be friends."

He laughed, but I didn't recall saying anything funny.

"You don't love me because you love him."

"Pardon?"

"You know who I'm talking about."

Cedric. I had always pushed off plans with Draco for him during our relationship. But I didn't love Cedric? Well I did, but not in that way. How could I ever love him in that way? He was only my friend.

"I don't have feelings for Cedric, if that's who you're talking about."

"Oh shut it. Everyone in this school knows you two are into each other, everyone except you two! It's annoying really, I just wished I'd known before I started dating you."

"Draco it's not that really, I just haven't felt that kind of love with anyone, ever."

He grunted and continued trying to transfigure his block and I sat there pondering what he had said. Was it true that the entire school thought we liked each other? Nonsense, he was just trying to get under my skin, but then I remembered the snickering students when they had seen Cedric and I together in the morning, and how even Ernie teased us about it. Maybe the school did think we were in love with each other. But there was no way? Me- of all people, as 'Golden Boy's' girlfriend, it was unimaginable.

I liked his company. Our friendship had never grown to be anything more, and I was okay with that. We were nothing other than best friends.

These thoughts followed me throughout the day, which led me to almost forget that Cedric was putting his name into the Goblet of fire that day. I scrambled into the castle, and just like every other student there I was soaking wet after running through the pouring rain.

Cedric pushed past his friends and ran over to me.

"I almost thought you weren't going to make it."

"I wouldn't miss it for the world!"

I gave him a quick hug for good luck and he ran off to be with his friends. I sat with Neville and Hermione and watched her berate the Weasley twins for trying to enter the tournament despite the fact that they were underage.

We cheered as students dropped their names into the goblet. I watched Cedric put on a confident facade in front of his friends, but I could tell that he was as nervous as ever. He ran towards the goblet and dropped his name inside, and as soon as he did I started cheering as loud as possible.

Ignoring Hermione's disapproval, the Weasley twins drank their aging potions and stepped into the circle around the goblet. Everyone, including myself, cheered. I couldn't believe their childish plan actually worked. They high fived and tossed their names inside, only to be immediately thrown out. To add to their humiliation the once red hair on their heads had turned into a platinum white color, and long stringy beards grew on their faces. The students laughed at them as they fought, even Hermione chuckled at their dismay.

The Weasley twins failure was a funny distraction from everything that had been bringing me down earlier, but I could not get my mind off of the fact that Cedric had officially entered his name into the Goblet of Fire, and that it was only a matter of time before he got picked to participate.
