Cedric and I ignored each other for the next week. It was getting infuriating quarrelling with him so often, but it seemed like he kept himself busy cuddling with Cho Chang. It made every inch of empathy I had for him disappear.

The day of the second Triwizard Tournament arrived. It seemed like only yesterday it was the first task. It might as well have been, seeing as we were both fighting on each occasion. Draco tried his best to help me get over my fight with Cedric, he offered to bewitch a Potter Stinks badge into a Cedric Stinks one, but I declined.

Professor Sprout had us take turns Apparating with her to get to the stands. I was filled with nerves, Cedric had barely survived the first task, and now he'd have to battle mermaids! I resented the fact that I still somewhat cared about his well being. I couldn't help it, deep inside of me I still loved him.

I looked around for Cho Chang to see if she was with Cedric but she was nowhere to be seen, in fact I hadn't seen Hermione or Ron all day as well.

And then I realized that Cho was going to be the person Cedric would have to save. I guess he was right, he would sorely miss her over me on any day. My heart sank as I watched Cedric dive into the water to rescue her. He used a water-breathing charm, one that Fleur used as well, to swim. Professor Sprout explained to us that Harry ate Gillyweed, giving him fins and gills to complete the challenge. She was especially excited about this, as she had never seen Gillyweed used in action before. Viktor Krum transfigured himself into a shark, an odd tactic, but still smart nonetheless.

I anxiously watched the water, I couldn't see anything going on, but I did not look away. I needed to see Cedric's head pop out of the water, I had to make sure he was okay.

Students placed bets on who would finish first, Ernie Macmillan was convinced it would be Cedric, and although I didn't say it out loud, I hoped it would be him as well. Hannah Abbott bet him 15 galleons, she believed the winner would be Krum, seeing as he is very athletic. We waited hours, staring at the raging water. To an outsider, this would seem like a boring event, but we were immersed in it the entire time.

Suddenly, a girl emerged from the lake. At first we thought it was Hermione, but when we saw her dark black hair we knew it was Cho Chang. Cedric swam up moments after. The Hufflepuff section roared.

"Damn it!" Hannah Abbott shouted over the cheering Hufflepuffs.

Ernie Macmillan responded with a smirk, he was 15 galleons richer now.

As Cedric and Cho made their way up to the Champion's area, Hermione Granger and Viktor Krum arose from the water, Viktor now being back to his human form. At this point I had become seriously worried for Harry Potter, why was it taking him so long to save Ron? Had the Gillyweed worn off?

I was put at ease when I saw Harry come out of the water carrying Ron and a young blonde girl. At the sight of the girl, the crowd gasped. Had something happened to Fleur? Why was she not able to save her sister? We whispered amongst ourselves worried about the Champion. Fortunately, we noticed that Fleur was safely seated in the stands, fighting Madame Maxine to go back into the lake to get her sister.

Once all of the Champions and refugees were dried up, Dumbledore and Ludo Bagman, the judge for the task, walked forward and cast an Amplifying charm to their voices, allowing all of the students to hear them, even from afar.
