April had flown by much faster than May had.  I avoided Cedric the best I could, and on the off chance that he'd catch me in the hallways I'd simply ignore him.  I warned him over and over again about Cho, and he never listened.  I was done listening to him apologize, because he would never change.  As for Cho, she didn't have a reason to continue bullying me so she stopped, as did most of the other students.  By the end of the month only one or two people had continued to call me 'Huffleslut', and even then they both eventually stopped.  I spent Easter break with my family.  We were still living with my aunt at the time, but my father had found himself a new job as an Apparition Examiner.  It was a much lower title in the ministry, but it was still a job.  Everything was getting back to normal.

Well, almost everything.

It was Easter break and my family was having their annual Easter Sunday brunch with the Diggory's.  I begged them to let me stay home, but they wouldn't allow it.  I was sure if I had told them the truth about everything that had happened between the two of us they would have let me stay home, but it was too embarrassing to bring up to my parents.  They just assumed I was being over dramatic over a little fight and that we'd be fine during the meal.

They were very wrong.

I wore the same sundress that I had worn on my picnic with Draco on Valentines day.  I promised myself that no matter what happened during the brunch I would still be kind and respectful to Amos, as he had been nothing but good to me ever since I was a child.

We arrived at around eight in the morning, my mother held a large casserole in her hands, trying not to get stuck in the doorway as she went inside.

Amos greeted us each with a big smile and a warm hug, I entered and as I took off my shoes I saw Cedric standing in the corner of his living room.  I hated to admit it but he did look quite attractive standing there in his almost fully buttoned up tee and dress pants.  I hated the sight of him, and yet I could not bring myself to look away.

After a moment or two Amos called everyone to the dining table, I sat opposite to Cedric and we desperately tried not to make eye contact with one another.

Amos smacked Cedric in the head, "Don't be rude, greet our guests!"

He nodded towards my parents and gave my sister a friendly smile.

Amos eyed him closely, "All of our guests."

Cedric turned to me, "Happy Easter.  You look nice."

There was no emotion whatsoever in his voice, and I could tell he didn't want to be here as well.

"Thank you Cedric," I replied in the same monotone voice that he used, "You look handsome as well."

"Alright let's get this started!"  Amos said as he rubbed his hands together, "Let's go around and say what we're thankful for this Easter.  I'll start, I'm thankful for my son, our friends, and the hard workers at St. Mungos who are taking care of my wife."

Everyone else went around and said the usual thank yous for family and friends.  Eventually, it had reached Cedric.  Keeping direct and sharp eye contact with me, he cleared his throat and began.

"I'm thankful for all of my honest friends at Hogwarts.  As I know they would never lie to me about anything."

I sneered, "Well I'm thankful for my loyal friends.  Those who are willing to stick by my side no matter what."

"I'm thankful for my friends who are kind, and would never say anything hurtful to me."

"I'm thankful for my friends who are open about things to me, and won't keep secrets and get mad when I don't know what they're upset about.  How is it my fault that I couldn't remember that night?  It's really annoying that you won't just tell me!"

Everyone else at the table looked very concerned, but Cedric and I did not break eye contact.

"Maybe if you would have just asked why I don't want to tell you, you'd understand."

"That's still no excuse, you can't get mad at me for not remembering something!"

"I actually am quite jealous of you actually, I would do anything to forget that day."

"You're so stubborn!"

"Well at least I didn't tell you that I hated you."

"What does that have to do with anything?!  I already told you it wasn't true."

He stomped on the floor, rattling the table, "You never apologized!"

"You never apologized for what you did either!"

"What you did was worse!"

"Oh yeah, obviously!  Hearing someone say, 'I hate you' is so much worse than being picked on by your friend's girlfriend for an entire month."

"I didn't know-"

"I tried to tell you-"

"Enough!"  Amos shouted, almost identically to how Cedric did at Fred and George's birthday party.

"I'm sorry Mr. Amos, but I have to go."  I said as I exited the table and walked out of the house.

I didn't know where to go or what to do but I did know one thing-

I had to find out what happened at the party.

A/N: Sorry for the short chapter, the next few ones are going to pretty long and they're some of my favorites!
