My weekend at the Malfoy Manor hadn't gone too well, but I managed to get out of it without hurting Draco, so I called a success.

However, because I no longer had to worry about the feast, my attention was all on the disappearance of Barty Crouch.  The third task was only a few weeks away, and I was uncomfortable with the fact that there was no sight of him whatsoever.  If Krum was attacked, then there was a chance that the other champions could be as well.  Cedric may be in danger.

I decided to take matters into my own hands.  I needed to do whatever it took to keep Cedric safe.

I marched up the stairs until I arrived at Dumbledore's office.  I gently knocked at the door, and it opened right after.  I stepped inside, careful not to knock anything over as I walked in.

Dumbledore was talking to his bird when I arrived, and stopped once he noticed me.  The old man gave me a warm smile.

"Hello dear, what brings you here?"

"Professor Dumbledore," I bit my lip, "I came here today because I think we should cancel the third task."

"And why is that?"

I walked over to his desk and sat in a chair opposite to him, "It's not safe.  Viktor was attacked, Mr. Crouch had gone missing, and he was going on and on about You-Know-Who.  I just have this awful feeling about everything, and think that it would be best if we postponed the task."

"Hogwarts is the safest place any wizard can be, and the tasks are monitored by teachers.  I can assure you that everything will be fine.  If you have any worries, you can speak about then with Professor Moody.  He is the one who has volunteered to run the maze."

"Don't you think it would just be better to wait until this ordeal gets cleared up?"

"Trust me, I of all people should know when we are in danger, and as of now Hogwarts is as safe as can be.  Cedric will be fine."

I was shocked that he knew that I was worried about Cedric, but I figured that Dumbledore knew just about anything and everything.  Maybe he was right about the school being safe after all.  Besides, it's not like Krum was murdered or anything.  The last person to have died on Hogwarts school grounds was Moaning Myrtle, and that was decades ago.  I guess I had no reason to worry, but it was hard not to.

There was only one person I could try to convince at this point, and it would be the hardest one of all.

I had to stop Cedric from doing the third task.

--

It was hard to get a hold of Cedric during the day, his popularity had rapidly increased as the last Triwizard Task approached, it seemed like everyone wanted to be friends with Cedric Diggory so they could get a taste of his glory.  'Potter Stinks' badges were in high demand, almost every student I'd pass would be wearing one.  I overheard Pansy bragging about the fortune she'd made selling them for 5 sickles apiece.  Cedric had become the face of Hogwarts overnight.

It didn't help that he had a crowd of girls from each school following him around as well.  The Beauxbatons girls were my biggest threat, not a single one of them was anything short of beautiful.  I sat by Fleur as she complained that Cedric got too much attention and that she was 'far prettier'.

"I zon't understand!"  She whined to her friends, "He's so young too, and wimpy."

Usually I would have stood up for my friend against a comment like hers, but I was so happy that Fleur didn't like Cedric that I didn't say a word.  I could never compare to a girl like her, she was part veela!
