I met up with Harry, Ron and Hermione the next morning to discuss the details of the previous day. They were debating whether or not it had been Crouch who had attacked Viktor Krum.
"It's not like Mr. Crouch to attack a student randomly." I argued.
Ron took a bite out of his chicken and shook his head, "No, it had to be him. That's why he wasn't there when you came back. He ran away, the bloody coward."
Harry seemed to disagree, "I don't think that was the case Ron. He was completely out of his mind, there's no way he would have been able to conjure a spell, let alone flee the area. Maybe someone Disapparated while we were gone."
Hermione rolled her eyes, "How many times do I have to remind you guys, you can't Apparate or Disapparate out of Hogwarts!"
Ron took another large bite, "Okay, how's this for a theory? Krum attacked Crouch-"
He stopped for a moment when he noticed our puzzled expressions.
"No wait for it," He continued, "And then he stunned himself!"
"And Mr. Crouch evaporated, did he?" Hermione replied sarcastically.
"Right." Ron put his head down in shame.
I checked the time to see that it was only a few minutes before I'd have to head for my first class.
"I better get going," I said exiting the table, "Let me know if you three find any more information."
As I walked through the corridors of Hogwarts I wondered if I should tell Cedric about the entire ordeal or not. I had reason to believe that Hogwarts was not as safe as it had been, because whether or not it had been Mr. Crouch or another person who had attacked Krum, either of them had still escaped and were at large.
Although, I had just made it very clear to Cedric that I wasn't going to revolve my life around him. It would be hypocritical of me to turn around and start worrying about him again.
But he is still one of my oldest friends...
Ex-friends, I reminded myself.
I shook the thought off as I entered my Transfiguration class. I sat myself next to Draco who was looking particularly nervous today.
"Morning Draco."
"Morning." He replied as he fiddled with his apple.
I gently grabbed his face and brought it towards mine. "You seem to have something on your mind."
He shrugged, "Right. There's something I need to tell you. You know that my birthday's coming up."
I didn't know that, but I pretended to anyway.
"Yes, why?"
"Well, my parents are hosting a dinner for me that day and they wanted me to invite a friend from school, and I was wondering if you'd like to come."
"Of course!" I beamed, "I've never been to a fancy dinner."
"Just one thing, I told them that you were my girlfriend."
I raised an eyebrow, "What?"
"They've been all over me this year, waiting for me to finally find a girlfriend. I don't want them to start questioning anything so I told them that I've been dating you all year."
