Year 6 (Part 2)
Break was a lot shorter than I had expected it to be. When we returned to Hogwarts, Harry had become more obsessed with Draco than ever. A part of me wanted to tell him the truth about what Draco was doing so he'd just drop it, but I knew that he would come up with some new, crazy conspiracy about what he was using the Vanishing Cabinet for, and then he'd try to make me a spy of some sort. The last thing I wanted to do was get involved in a Draco-Harry war, so I decided against telling him. I had too many other things to worry about anyway. With all of my N.E.W.T classes, Apparation exams, Malfoy, and the fact that I had a target on my back, I was more stressed than ever. Whenever I got too overwhelmed, I'd hold onto Cedric's jersey. It was the closest I could get to feeling him. I'd imagine what sort of advice he'd give me in this situation.
"Just follow your heart, it's never been wrong." I thought of him saying.
"How can I be sure that my heart will lead me to the right place?" I asked him.
He shrugged, "You can't, but who else can you trust more than yourself?"
I laid down and sighed, pressing the jersey on my chest. It was a bittersweet feeling.
"I wish you were here."
I spent the next few weeks in the library trying to find a way to help Draco repair the vanishing cabinet. The sooner I'd finish helping him, the sooner he'd stop talking to me. He'd whisper to me in the hallways or after class to see if I'd found any information, and to his disappointment I'd just shake my head everytime.
One night I was in the library alone with Neville, tutoring him on Transfiguration. I figured since the library was going to be closing in a few minutes we'd pack our things up before Madame Pince started yelling at us.
As he put away his book I tried to strike up a conversation, "So, how are things with Luna?"
"The same as always, I guess. For christmas she sent me an issue of the Quibbler that had an article about plants, and a few packets of seeds. I sent her a few radishes I'd grown, because her old radish earrings had fallen apart."
"Neville!" I said, a bit too loudly as Madame Pince shot us a mean glare, "It's so obvious that the two of you like each other, so why don't you tell her how you feel?"
He gave me a sarcastic grin, "The last time I told a girl I liked her, she rejected me."
"Right, sorry." I said sheepishly, "Well- look at how it turned out. We're friends now, and you've begun to like someone else!"
"Yeah," He smiled, "I'm still a bit shaken by it though. I was able to get over you quickly, but Luna- she's different."
"I get it," I said, "But trust me, you don't want to wait too long to tell her how you feel. I barely told Cedric on time, I just wished I'd told him sooner, and enjoyed him. You never know-"
My voice cracked, Neville gave me a hug from the side.
"Lately I haven't been able to think about anything other than him." I choked, "I just want to be over it."
"It takes time." He sighed, "I know, I've lost some pretty important people too."
"Right, I'm being inconsiderate."
"No, I can only imagine how I'd feel if I lost Luna." He said.
"I'm glad we're friends Neville," I smiled, "You're a good person."
"Thanks!" He beamed, "I'm glad we're friends too."
I bit my lip, "Could I ask you for some advice?"
