The door swung open and he was standing there.

I expected to hear a gunshot. I expected to die, as I clutched on tightly to the woman I love. But there was nothing.

"Clarke?" A low voice asked, and I instantly recognized who it was.

Lexa and I both opened our eyes slowly and turned to look at the doorway of the bathroom. Standing in the door frame was Marcus Kane.

"Marcus!" Lexa and I both yelled, quickly standing up and tackling him into a hug.

"I can't believe this!" I exclaimed. "You're Alive!"

"Of course Clarke. I couldn't die without getting to meet Madi." Marcus chuckled.

Lexa and I let go of him and then I shoved him super hard. "Why didn't you say something?! We thought you were Roan! We heard two gunshots... I- I thought you were dead."

"I'm sorry. I should have thought that through, I can see how that may have been a little scary. Abby is downstairs dealing with Roan right now. You guys should have seen it. He burst through the front door, ready to attack. I started yelling at him, trying to buy sometime and then boom. Abby sneaks up from behind and knocks him over the head with a frying pan. His gun slides across the floor and I had to end it. I can't let him hurt you or your children. If I didn't kill him we would all be dead. The first shot injured him and the second killed him. Abby is covering up his body."

"I'm sorry you had to do that Marcus." I apologized, knowing that he won't be able to forget that moment for the rest of his life.

"Its ok Clarke. You are the closest I have to family. I'd do anything to protect you and those you care about. Now what do you say we go downstairs?"

Marcus walked out of the bathroom and looked over his shoulder to see Lexa and I still standing in place. "Are you two coming?"

"Yeah. Just give us a second." I responded, and I watched as Marcus nodded in understanding and left the room.

The second the door was shut, I brought Lexa into a hug, resting my head on her chest, right over her heart so I could hear it beating. It was not just a reassurance that she was alive, but reassurance everything would be ok. I felt Lexa move so she could pull me closer and no words had to be spoken between us. We didn't need any. What we felt was far beyond that now, and I don't ever want to leave Lexa's side again.

"We are alive." Lexa whispered, her voice almost sounding of disbelief which I understood after everything that had happened.

"About what happened in the bathroom..."

"Hey Clarke. I get it. It was a moment where you thought you were going to die. People like to kiss in those situations. It makes you feel closer to someone when you need them the most. I understand if you don't have any real feelings for me I just-"

Before Lexa could finish, I moved my hand to the back of her neck and gently pulled her forwards, pressing our lips together again. I felt Lexa kiss back quickly and we fell into a perfect rhythm for quite a while until we needed to pull away for air.

"That kiss had nothing to do with almost dying Lex. I care about you a lot. That's why I did it. That's also why I did it again and why I would love to make it a frequent habit if you are interested."

I watched as a massive grin spread across Lexa's face and she caressed my cheek gently. "I'm glad to hear that Clarke and I care about you too. I want to kiss you all of the time now. You have no idea how addicting you are."

"Love birds! Are you almost done up there?!" Marcus called from downstairs, causing Lexa and I to blush and take a step away from each other.

"We should probably go and thank Abby." Lexa suggested, awkwardly rubbing the back of her neck.

"Good idea." I agreed, walking towards the door with Lexa right behind me.

When we got downstairs, I saw a tarp covering up part of the ground? And I knew what was under it. I guess I should day who is under it. I turned around and saw Abby standing there watching me silently, and I quickly moved to bring her into a hug.

When we pulled away, I saw her eyes were starting to tear up, so I moved to hold both of her hands in my own. "Thank you Abby. You saved us."

"Don't worry about it Clarke. I owed you after everything."

"No you didn't. You were just trying to protect me all those years ago just like you still are now. Listen, I'm sorry I left Colorado so abruptly but our kids had just been kidnapped and I didn't really have time to process anything that had happened. Now that I have I understand. You are my mom. Not because you gave birth to me and not because you are the one alive, but because I love you. Paige never loved me the way you do and I can see that already. It's so obvious how much you care about me and I want you to know I care about you too. I'm really glad I have you in my life now."

If Abby wasn't full on crying before, she's definitely crying now. I pulled her into another hug and squeezed tight, trying to express what I felt physically so she knows I'm serious.

I heard Marcus and Lexa say "aww" And Abby and I turned to face them, now smiling.

"Now what?" Marcus asked, moving to stand next to Abby.

"Well we have to deal with Roan. Cops aren't an option since this whole winter wonderland is still a secret. I'll have Titus take care of him." Lexa suggested.

"What about Nia?" I asked, still worried. "It won't take long for her to realize Roan is gone. She probably knows where we are."

I watched as everyone frowned, us all realizing the danger we were still in. Nia will want to kill us even more when she finds out about her son. We also still have the threat of the man who she's working with who we still don't know the identity of. We are far from being safe...if anything we are in even more danger now.

"Ontari saved me when she shot me. She had orders to kill me and she could have done it easily, but she didn't. I think she might be willing to help us stop her mom." I offered, trying to piece together a good plan in my head.

"I can see what I can do to get in touch with her but I'm not sure she'll be willing to help once she's found out about her brother." Lexa explained.

"It's worth a try." I shrugged.

"You are right." Lexa nodded. "Anything is worth a try if it means getting back to our kids safely."

"What can we do to help?" Marcus asked.

"You two have done more then enough." I told them quickly. "You don't need to be in danger any longer. They are after Lexa and I, not you two."

"Clarke we are family." Abby told me, moving to rest a hand on my shoulder. "All of us." She added, resting another hand on Lexa's shoulder. "We stick together."

I know I'm supposed to be scared right now. I'm suppose shaking and afraid, fearful for Nia's retaliation. I'm not though. I guess this is what it's like to have another family at your side.
