"Name and insurance please." A lady at the front desk asked politely.
"Clarke Griffin. I don't actually have my insurance card with me at the moment but I was shot and hoping I could get some quick treatment. I'm fine right now but this one insisted I come hear and get it properly treated." I joked, motioning to Lexa who stood next to me.
The lady's eyes widened and she quickly stood up and nodded. "Of course. We can handle forms and insurance later. Please come right this way."
She lead us to a room and Madi and Aden sat down in 2 chairs off to the side while I moved to sit next to Lexa on the exam table.
"Your Doctor will be right with you." The lady smiled, turning around and shutting the door behind her.
"Does it hurt?" Lexa asked, looking at me, concern shinning through those penetrating green eyes I find myself so in love with.
"Not too much. It's manageable." I shrugged.
"Can I see?" Lexa asked somewhat cautiously.
I nodded and slowly pulled up the bottom of my shirt, revealing the wound and the work Abby did to try and fix it up.
I watched as Lexa frowned and her eyes trailed along the injury, still gross and covered in blood.
"I'm so sorry." She mumbled, eyes starting to fill with tears. "I hate to see you hurt. I won't let anyone hurt you ever again Clarke I swear. I won't let anyone hurt any you." Lexa added, us both looking towards our kids who seemed to be distracted playing a game on a small device that Raven built for them.
"I know Lexa we will protect them always. They are so cute." I whispered, watching as Aden and Madi played their game and grinned like two happy children with not a care in the world. I wish I could be that relaxed and care free. Maybe someday if things in my life settle down a little and my everyday activities don't sound like the plot of some ridiculous action romance movie.
Lexa opened her mouth to respond but was interrupted by the doctor walking in. A pretty woman with blonde hair and brown eyes walked into the room, pen tucked behind her ear and clipboard in hand.
"Hi. Which one of you is Ms.Griffin?"
"You can call me Clarke." I smiled, reaching out my hand to shake the doctor's.
"Hi Clarke my name is Doctor Forrester, you can just call me Niylah though." The woman smiled, shaking my hand for what seemed like a little bit too long of a time. I thought it was a bit strange she asked me to call her by her first name but I just ignored the off feeling I had and drew back my hand.
"Wait a second." Niylah paused. "Lexa Woods right? Damn didn't your parents die or something?"
"Uh...yeah." Lexa frowned, turning her attention to the ground, clearly not wanting to talk about her dead parents. Who would though? What a strange question to ask.
"Well according to my chart here Clarke, it says you came in here for a bullet wound bellow your right rib cage, is that accurate?"
"Yes." I nodded.
"Ok well I will have to take a look if you don't mind. I think this might be best if the kids aren't here. We don't want to scare them if they hear you are in pain. There's a waiting room down the hall if you want." Niylah offered.
"Sure. Lex do you mind taking our kids over?" I asked Lexa who seemed a little out of it.
"Yeah sure." Lexa nodded, standing up and waving for Aden and Madi to follow. The 3 walked out of the room and Niylah shut the door behind them.
