Laney's POV
Last night was very strange, thinking those words came out of his mouth, to me. He left early this morning since he also had work. I, on the other hand, was off today. I wasn't going to do anything until Ashton texted me and wanted to take me out and go shopping.
I got cleaned up and curled my hair. It was getting darker since I wasn't in the sun much. It was dark brown, making my piercing green eyes always pop out. I applied some makeup and finished just before he came knocking at my door.
"Hey Ash, so why do you want to go shopping?"
"Um, I kinda have a date tonight," he mumbled and turned away blushing.
"With who?! Ashton! Why didn't you tell me?"
                              "It's with Kate," he smiled.
                              "Awe! You're blushing! Why can't I have a boyfriend again," I pouted.
We drove to a store that wasn't so expensive, but it wasn't the cheapest either. He looked around for a little bit, but he struggled on what to wear. He had no clue how to shop.
"You can't match that shirt and that tie! Have you learned nothing from your mother?"
                              "Uh, right, sorry?"
"Here, this tie with this shirt, or this tie with this shirt?" He looked puzzled so I just shoved both of them into his chest and shoved him to the dressing room. He walked out in the first set, and he looked good.
"Kate might wanna put a leash on you Ash," I winked at him. He chuckled and turned around to try the other one. He looked better in the first, I think, so he bought it.
"Let's go get some lunch somewhere," he suggested. We went to a cafe within walking distance. We ordered some coffee and food and took a seat.
                              "So you and Ian?"
                              "What about 'me and Ian'?"
"Well are you like a thing?"
                              "No? Why do you ask?"
"Because he just looked over here and stormed out," he chuckled. I looked out the window and sure enough I saw him fast pace walking to his car. I gave Ashton the one minute sign before running out to his car. I opened the door before he could drive away. I sat down in the passengers seat and he looked so pissed.
"What the hell is wrong?" I asked.
"Go back to your fucking date," he spit.
"It's not a date! I was helping him find something to wear for his date tonight with Kate!" His expression softened, reminding much of Wesley when he got mad at me with the whole Keaton ordeal.
"I'm sorry, I just-" he couldn't finish his sentence.
                              "You just what?"
"Look Laney, I've been trying really hard to push these feelings away, but I can't do it anymore. I love you, I'm in love with you. Everyday we're together I'm so happy and I never stop smiling. I can't keep it bottled inside of me any longer. I've been longing for your lips, but I know you don't feel the same. I'm sorry, I didn't mean for it to happen, it just did," he sighed.
"Ian, why didn't you tell me? We could've at least talked about it or something," I stated, lost for words.
"You don't feel the same way do you? I knew this was a mistake."
"I'm sorry Ian! You're an amazing guy, and I really like you, but I don't know if I'm ready for love yet."
"It's been more than five months Lane, I can help you get over him," he said pleadingly. Everyone knows about my breakup. I've never actually told anyone it was with Wesley Stromberg, but they know it was bad. That is very true. Ian's a great guy, I could manage with him. He's got a good life, he's a good influence, maybe I should try dating someone new. I'm sure Wesley's way over me, which I wouldn't blame him.
