Story

"Yani?" Ate Mish snapped her fingers in front of me to bring my mind back to the present. Damn! I'm so distracted.

"I guess, that's all for today? I think Miss Yani is a little bit... distracted." Vini said.

Tumuwid ako kaagad ako sa pagkakaupo nang marinig ang pangalan ko. Gosh, I wanted to glare at him so bad!

I cleared my throat. "I'm sorry, I guess I'm still a little bit... jet lagged."

"It's alright, let's just talk about the café plans on our next appointment. Today was more for introduction anyway." He said in perfect English. Tumayo siya pagkatapos at muling kinamayan ang mga kasama ko. "It was nice meeting you." He told them.

I didn't bother standing up so he just looked at me and nodded his head a bit before leaving.

"Ang sungit mo naman sa kanya?" Tanong ni Ate Ellie.

"I think we should find another consulting firm." I lowkey suggested.

"Bakit naman? I think their company is nice base on his introduction to it and I like their mission and vision." Sabi ni Kuya Flint.

Of course, I wouldn't know that dahil hindi ako nakikinig!

"And I think he's a responsible guy, mapagkakatiwalaan." Sabi ni Kuya John.

Kung alam lang niya how untrustworthy si Vini! Che! My eyes widened when a thought cross my mind. Oh my? Baka mamaya pabagsakin niya ang café ko ha?

"I have a bad feeling about that person, let's just find another company." I tried to convince them more.

"I'm sure pinacheck na ni Tito Anthony ang reliability nitong company na to before recommending it to you but if you want, I can also check it para mapanatag ka." Sagot ni Kuya Flint.

I give up! I couldn't convince them because they are so captivated by Vini's smooth talking! Kahit ako noon eh.

I went to the bathroom to freshen up and compose myself. Unang pagkikita palang namin, ganito na ang reaction ng katawan ko.

My head hurts like thousands of memories are coming back to hunt me.

I recited my mantra that I've been holding onto for the past 2 years.

I refuse to breakdown; I'm strong; I shall move forward.

When I went back, business nanaman ang pinaguusapan nila. Sumasakit ang ulo ko sa business, hindi pa nga nagsisimula ang ipapatayo ko.

"So babalik na sa normal operations ang executives ng company niyo?" Tanong ni Kuya John kay Kuya Flint.

They are talking about Kuya Flint's family company. It's chaotic, I don't get it too.

"Yep, lolo's health is so far so good. It's been almost 5 months now since he returned as the chairman of Hernandez Group. Tapos babalik na din si Mama at Papa sa HHRC so Mish and I will have more time now."

"Aww, I'll miss having a CEO friend. So what's next? Anong position ang offer sa inyo?"

"Kapag mababa ang sahod lipat kayo samin." Pabirong sabi ni Ate Ellie.

"Vice-President and VP's Secretary." Kuya Flint answered Kuya John's question.

Nakuha niya ang attention ko. "Secretary? My sister was the interim president then now she's gonna be demoted to a secretary?" Hindi ko napigilang tanong.

"Yans beshy, you have nothing to worry about. Title lang yan." Ate Ellie answered me. "To be honest, she will still probably be earning more than I'm earning because nasa executive level siya at boyfriend naman niya ang nagpapasahod sa kanya kaya hindi yan titipirin."
