Breakfast

Nasa baba na ako.

I looked at the text from Vini, tipid na tipid ah. Wala man lang good morning.

Akala ko nga hindi na to matutuloy because he looked so pissed yesterday, hindi pa namamansin pero he sent me a message last night saying 'See you.' Tipid din.

I sprayed my favorite perfume before going out of the condo. Nakita ko siya agad pagkalabas ng building, he is leaning on the wall with arms crossed.

Tumayo siya ng maayos nang nakita ako. He was wearing a casual outfit. T-shirt, sweatpants and rubber shoes. May duffle bag din na nakasabit sa shoulder at paper bag sa kabilang kamay.

"Good morning!" I cheerfully greeted.

"Morning." Sagot niya. "Let's go."

Ang sungit naman, naisip ko tuloy kung napilitan lang ba siya. I walked beside him, feeling a little bit disappointed na wala man pa-hold hands. Siya lang ata ang nakadate ko na walang affection!

My brows furrowed when I realized that we're going inside the campus. May alam ba siyang secret place like a roof top or what na perfect for dates? O di kaya may bibilhin or dadaanan na lugar? Sumunod nalang ako. 

"Here?" I raised my brows at him in disbelief.

He put his paper bag on the table and sat on the chair. He then gestured for me to sit in front of him.

We are inside the cafeteria. For a date! Ni wala pa ngang luto na binebenta at kaming dalawa lang ang tao dito.

Akala ko naman some special place pero – cafeteria? Seriously? Add that to my growing list of 1st time experiences with him.

Hindi ko tinuloy ang pagrereklamo ko nang nakita siyang naglabas ng tupperwares galing sa paper bag. There was a total of 5 tupperwares na may lamang home cooked food. Rice, bacon, egg, ham and breads. May bottled water din at a box of milk.

He silently set it up in front of me. Napatitig ako sa egg na naka-heart shape pa, tapos may smiley face na gawa sa ketchup. Binabawi ko na ang sinabi kanina na walang special sa date na to!

"I didn't know what you eat for breakfast, so just choose if you like rice or bread."

"You cooked it?" Mahina kong tanong, feeling a bit warm hearted.

Tumango lang siya, he was staring at me waiting for me to choose what to eat. I didn't feel like having a heavy breakfast today so I reached for the bread.

Kinagat ko ang labi ko para pigilan ang ngiti habang kumukuha ng egg. It's heart-shaped! I'm supposed to feel kilig pero natatawa ako. Kumuha din ako ng bacon at ham para ipalaman sa sandwich.

Agad niyang kinuha ang bottled water at binuksan para sakin. He watched me when I took a bite of it, tumango ako bilang response na it's good.

Tahimik din siyang kumuha ng rice at ulam bago nagsimulang kumain. Hindi ko alam kung tahimik ba siya dahil nahihiya siya o may iba pang rason. Are we not gonna talk to each other this whole time?

"Why are you so grumpy ba early in the morning?" I broke the silence pagkatapos malunok ang pagkain.

He looked hesitant about saying something.

"Come on, Vini. Don't be shy!" I urged him to spill it.

"About the cake..." He started, pero huminto ulit, nag-iisip pa kung itutuloy niya ba.
