Two Worlds, One Heart (Rexsoka)

First Trial

Rex finally managed to get on the Jedi robes, they were cream colored like General Kenobi's but they still felt odd, Rex fidgeted in the loose robes as he walked out into the garden. When he looked back up he saw his brothers as well as the Jedi generals all standing in a circle, he looked around for Ahsoka but could not see her, his fear evident on his face as Shaak ti addressed him.

“Ahsoka is fine Captain Rex, you should be more concerned with your own safety”.

Rex stood tall as he responded, “so long as I live, I will always keep her safety above my own, what is my first challenge?”

Shaak Ti smiled before speaking again “your first task will test your skills as a hunter, you are to hunt down an Akul and bring back its hide so your bride may judge your abilities to provide for your future family”

Skywalker looked at Shaak Ti a little concerned “isn’t that a little um much?”, Shaak Ti fixed him with her black eyes “it is a right of passage for the young of our culture, all I ask is that he proves he is a man by our standards”. Skywalker nodded before turning back to Rex.

“You are to do this alone and to bring back the hide as well as the teeth of the animal” she Stated looking through Rex making him feel as though he was being judged.

“ I accept the challenge “ Rex replied, just as he did there was a loud roar coming from the woods next to the gardens. With the nod of Shaak Ti's head Rex ran into the forest.

Rex ran for what felt like an hour before he saw something orange flash In Front of him at least a hundred meters in front of him.

He froze, bending down to keep the beast from running off or towards him before he was ready. The beast in question was drinking some water out of a small river, it was huge, at least thirteen feet long and six feet wide.

He began to feel around the forest floor for anything he could use to take down the beast, his hands brushed up against a four foot long sharp stick, it was thick enough that it would take down the beast. But when Rex looked back up the Akul was gone.

“oh that’s not good” Rex muttered

Just as he took two steps forward he saw a flash of orange out of the corner of his eye, he turned his head quickly just in time to catch sight of the Akul.

As it came barreling towards him he jumped out of the way rolling to a stop before looking back up and seeing the creature now teen feet away from him.

Rex’s heartbeat in his chest as he and the beast stared at each other. Once Sizing up the other, weighing their chances and formulating a plan.

Rex smiled, right before it charged, he grabbed the stick he had managed to keep with him and jumped just as the Akul did.

The stick sunk into the Akul’s chest with all of Rex’s strength behind it. The animal let out a loud wail before it perished. Rex panted heavily before starting to break the animals teeth out of its head, he smiled when he thought back to Ahsoka’s story of how she had earned her headdress.

She was barely three years old when she was able to take down one, her parents, or as Rex now knew to be her adopted parents, had been helping neighbors with cleaning up after a Akul had distroyed their farm.

Ahsoka got lost in the forest after playing with some of the older children and stumbled upon one on the hunt. It had attacked her thinking she would be easy prey, she used the force to throw the beast upon a tree, impaling it. Her adoptive parents who had been searching the surrounding area for hours until they found Ahsoka playing with the dead Akuls tail pushing it back and forth with the force.

The very next day Plo Koon took her to the temple to join the Jedi order.

Once he had gotten the majority of the teeth out he walked back to the river looking for a sharpened stone.

After a while he found one, it was about the same size of his hand, and as he walked back to the Akul he started to sharpen it a little more with another rock. He started to skin the animal, it took at least an hour before he got the majority of the skin off and throwing the teeth in the center of the skin he tied it up and started his run back.

It took him an hour to get back to the garden, once he did he saw that most of his brothers were setting up a large fire, on his side of the fire he could see the Jedi generals deep in discussion. Rex felt a little down as he finished scanning the crowd for Ahsoka, he had hoped she'd be here when he got back.

He walked up to the Jedi and held the skin out to be judged, Shaak Ti smiled and accepted it. “well done Captain, now you must face your second challenge”. Skywalker looked at the skin his eyes wide as he turned to master Plo Koon “how big was that thing exactly?”, “she said she wanted to test him” replied Koon as he shrugged “besides you should have seen what her father made Shaak Ti’s mate do, that was scary”

Shaak Ti sent a glare at the two of them before turning to address Rex “you have proven yourself a capable hunter, now you must show you are strong enough to protect your own” Just as she finished speaking Rex saw a couple familiar faces walking towards them.

His brothers Kix and Cut Up, both of whom were now sporting bruises and bitemarks that looked to be extremely painful. Rex could not help but smile, “you boys play with a Colo Claw Fish?” he shouted happily. Kix glared at Rex before smiling “not your mate has sharp teeth, oh and don’t worry we told her it was your idea”.

“you did what” Yelled Rex as they set the box in front of Shaak Ti.

“Captain Rex, since you have shown your capabilities as a Hunter you are now challenged to show your skills as a soldier, namely one defending his kin, if you can push us beyond this ring then you are worthy” Shaak Ti addressed Rex calmly as she activated the box that was at her feet.

Out came a holographic circle that encompassed a fifty-foot area around them.

“Who will I be fighting?” asked Rex, slightly confused.

“us” all three Jedi said at once.
