Y/N POV

Me, mother and a small team of Crimson Lance soldiers exited the cave to find ourselves in some kind of clearing. There were numerous strange obelisks and archways, all baring the same pattern as the structures we saw on the way here.

In the center of the clearing was a pedestal which when mother saw it her eyes widened and I noticed a grin stretch along her face. I asked "What is it mother?" She turned to me and answered "This is what we need the Vault Key for."

She went over to the elevated pedestal before signaling one of the soldiers who had all four Vault Key fragments. He handed them over before she turned her back to us. She positioned the four fragments in a circular position around the pedestal, however before she could do anything, we heard the sound of four pairs of footsteps behind us.

We all turned around and to my surprise we were met with the four Vault Hunters that I had heard about, I had been given descriptions of them along with seeing Atlas wanted posters for them.

The Lance soldiers all pointed their assault rifles or SMGs at the Vault Hunters as I myself pointed my pistol right at the deserter, Roland I believe he was called. Mother turned away from the four Vault Key pieces and began giving a speech to the Vault Hunters.

"You have failed to listen to Commandant Steele. I have warned you time and again, yet you persist on ignoring my orders. The contents of the Vault are rightfully the property of the Atlas Corporation, but you? Heh heh, you belong to me."

She turned around again as  she stretched her hand over the key fragments and I noticed her Siren pattern glow briefly before the four fragments all fitted together to form what I'm certain was now the complete Vault Key.

The Vault Key dropped into a hole in the pedestal as the ground suddenly began to shake. I then saw chunks of precisely shaped rock floating upwards into the air before all of them began to float towards the cliff face behind us.

Within seconds the rocks attached to one another to form some kind of archway and a bright purple light which I assumed was a portal to the inside of the Vault opened. Mother triumphantly turned around exclaiming. "The Key works!"

She then turned to look at me before saying "Y/N get your team ready to go inside-" Suddenly out of literal nowhere a giant tentacle lanced out of the Vaunt and impaled itself right through my mother's stomach!

The tentacle slowly lifted up with mother still attached to it as more appeared and killed the Lance Soldiers who tried shooting at whatever it was. I simply watched in shock with wide eyes before the tentacle suddenly retracted and I saw what exactly we were dealing with, what had just eaten my mother!

I was met with a gigantic creature with large tentacles all over the place, it had a large toothed mouth and a singular eye which glowed a bright blue. Was this the fabled Destroyer I had only heard about in stories?

I eventually was broken from my shock when I heard the Vault Hunters shooting at the beast. I used quickly hid away from the action as I didn't want to make some alien creature that could shoot lasers from their damn eye angry now did I.

The Vault Hunters were so distracted on fighting the Destroyer that they didn't notice me pulling out my teleporter device, that usually only Lance Assassins used, before pressing the button on the control pad.

As I pressed the button and disappeared I sent one final Echo message to the Vault Hunters which was as follows.

"This isn't over Vault Hunters!"

You may be wondering where I was teleporting to. Well you see, I wanted payback on the Vault Hunters and Atlas had eyes everywhere, a while back we received word of a Doctor who was able to create zombies. That Doctor was actually on our watch list but then all this happened so we never could seek him out.

However now I would be able to do exactly that and I knew I would find him at a location, long forgotten to most people, a place called Jakobs Cove!

Author's Note: That concludes Chapter 5 and also the segment of Borderlands' main story. I do hope you enjoyed but I also apologize if it was bad, I'll be honest I've wanted to write a Borderlands story for some time but could never think of an idea I liked until this one. As always thanks for reading and I'll get the next chapter for THIS story up tomorrow.
