Chapter 34: Control Core Angel

Y/N POV

I arrived at the Bunker and Handsome Jack was waiting for me, he did all the passwords before instantly leaving. I'm not sure as to why he left so soon but I entered the elevator and descended regardless.

Upon my arrival in Angel's chambers she instantly appeared and exclaimed "Y/N!" We hugged each other tightly as I gave her a quick peck on the forehead causing her to blush lightly. I then spoke myself "It's great to see you again Angel but why was I called here so abruptly?"

Angel looked at me anxiously before responding "The Vault Hunters are on their way here right now. I must ask that whatever you do, you trust me and don't interfere." I smiled at her and responded "Of course." My face then turned serious as I asked "What are you planning?"

She looked at me before saying "Just trust me." Suddenly we heard the Elevator coming down once again as Angel quickly exclaimed "Hide yourself please! I need you to just trust me please."

I just nodded and teleported to an adjacent room. I couldn't here what Angel was saying to the Vault Hunters until I heard a furious Handsome Jack yell over the speakers "YOU GET THE HELL AWAY FROM MY DAUGHTER!" Suddenly a strange arm launched out from a nearby machine and soon retracted holding Angel in it.

It pulled her into the centre of the machine that was in the middle of the room as a shield went up. Handsome Jack came on over the computer monikers and asked "What the hell are you doing Angel?!" 

Angel responded angrily "Stopping you, you piece of-" Handsome Jack cut her off by saying "Ah language." Suddenly the Vault Hunters all ran into the room and I noticed it was all of them along with a mysterious warrior in black with a sword.

Angel began guiding the Vault Hunters "The Eridium injectors. Destroy them!" However Handsome Jack was one step further as he said "Oh no you don't! Shields up! Y/N get them!" As the shields went up, I lept from my position and landed on the ground.

I looked at them, revealing my glowing purple eyes, filled with hatred as I stood upright and gripped my staff and drawing my pistol at the same time.

End of the line!

Angel protested "Y/N, you said you'd trust me!" I responded "I will not allow you to kill yourself, I can't lose anyone else close to me!" With that I lept at the Vault Hunter in black and swung my staff only for him to block it with a sword.

Angel then said "No! I'll try to expose the injectors, just hold on!" Handsome Jack threatened the Vault Hunters as I kept battling them, using both my Eridian abilities as well as my gun. "Bandit if you keep this up, I'm heading down there to blow your brains out myself you hear me?!"

Angel responded "He's lying the coward would never face you in person." She then addressed me by pleading "Y/N. Please let them end my suffering. There's still time." I retorted "I already said, I've lost my family, I won't lose you as well!"

Suddenly sirens blared throughout the room and I found myself supported by modified Loader Bots that were painted white. The were the so called Angelic Guardians, Angel briefly told me about during the time I was initially protecting her.

As I mentioned before these Angelic Guardians were my allies in the battle as I continued to successfully hold off the six Vault Hunters using my Eridian abilities which involved the usual shockwaves along with the ability to create purple balls of energy which acted as projectiles. I briefly saw Zarpedon do the same but only decided to give it a try now.

Things seemed to be going somewhat okay as even with Angel providing supplies to the Vault Hunters, I was able to hold up and with the Angelic Guards supporting me, I was able to nearly take them out, FINALLY! After all this time.

However that changed when these energy walkways appeared and Roland arrived on the scene and began deactivating the shields one by one. Handsome Jack continued to threaten them while Angel reassured them and pushed them forward.

I got even more surprised when Lilith turned up as well after Handsome Jack deactivated the third bridge and Roland couldn't get across.

However in the end it was my hatred that lead to my downfall. After Roland and Lilith entered the picture I was focused purely on my hatred of them rather than the Vault Hunters that were still shooting at me.

It wasn't until I was shot right in my gut that I realized. I fell to the ground on all fours, except for the hand which was still holding the newly made bullet hole. I dropped my staff as I realized that my bright purple blood was spilling onto the floor.

The Vault Hunters destroyed the Eridium Injectors and as the machine was destroyed I heard Angel let out one final cry of pain before she collapsed to the ground. From there I could barely hear what was being said due to the rate in which I was losing blood.

However I pieced three things together after that.

A gunshot, Lilith screaming "ROLAND!" Followed by Handsome Jack simply saying "Sup."

At this I was filled with fear as I knew something, there was no way Handsome Jack would let me live after what had happened, I had failed to protect his daughter, he would surely kill me at the first chance he got.

So with what little energy I had left I grabbed my staff, pulled out my teleporter and escaped to the only place I knew of. Unfortunately after that I blacked out and wouldn't wake up until AFTER both Handsome Jack and the Warrior were dead, killed by the Vault Hunters.

However now not only had I lost my parents and two of my friends but I also lost my girlfriend to those Vault Hunters as well. What I didn't know was that life wasn't done taking those I cared about away from me, but I would have to wait a while before it happened again.
