Chapter 53: Ending the Hatred

Y/N POV

My eyes slowly opened and I was met with a blinding light. Eventually my eyes adjusted and I began to take in my surroundings. I appeared to be in some kind of medical bay but the question was where?

Attempting to sit up I winced at the pain and noticed that I didn't have my trench coat but rather I had bandages wrapped around my black undershirt, said bandages were stained purple.

I noticed a woman in the room working on something, she didn't notice me trying to sit up so I called her. "Hey! You." The woman jumped out of her skin and turned to look at me "Oh! Your awake! I'm Doctor Patricia Tannis."

I looked at her cautiously before asking "Right, where am I?" Tannis responded "You are on board Sanctuary 3 the hub of the Crimson Raiders." My eyes widened as I looked around at my surroundings.

My attention once again  returned to Tannis as I noticed something about her. "Those tattoos I recognize them." I knew of course she was a Siren but I also felt something very familiar about this particular encounter.

Tannis responded "Ah yes. I have inherited the powers of the Guardian Angel. Lilith said the two of you were close." I nodded before saying "Lilith? Where is she? Why am I here?" Tannis' response was to leave the room without a word.

When she returned she was accompanied by the four Vault Hunters as well as Lilith and some bratty child who just irradiated annoying.

I ignored her before asking Lilith "Why am I here? Why did you save me from the Calypsos?"

Lilith tried to make an excuse "It was the right thing to do." I shook my head saying "No, you did it for a reason. What was it?" Lilith sighed before saying "You couldn't let the Calypsos leech another Vault creature. Speaking of how long did you know you were the Reborn Sentinel?"

My answer was blunt and quick "I don't know, I only found out then." Lilith continued "Well, there's something else we need." I tilted my head saying "What would that be?" Lilith explained "While you were out cold, the Calypsos have been charging Elpis, turns out it's the key to the Great Vault. We need you and your men's help storming the cathedral."

Calmly I said "Well as you can see I'm in no state to help you and besides, I'll only deal with the one in charge where's Roland?" Suddenly an ice cold silence filled the room as everyone looked around uncomfortably.

Finally Lilith said "R-Roland's dead, he was killed by Handsome Jack in Angel's Control Core. I guess you were passed out at that point or you teleported away." My eyes widened at the revelation. 

All those years I spent wanting revenge on Roland only to find out that he was already dead. I can't believe I was never told about that, you'd have thought someone had told me about it but no they never did.

I just looked down for a moment before returning my eyes to Lilith. "Fine. I'll help you, for Roland. You may not know this but even back then, I held a great deal of respect for him. He didn't deserve to die."

Lilith nodded and said "Thank you." I continued "I will order my men to back you up in your assault. Lancers, Devastators, you name it. It's the least I can do to honor Roland's memory."

They all nodded and left except for the kid who just stared at me. I turned to her before asking in a stern voice "Yes? Is there something you want?" The girl responded "I-I'm sorry. Maya told me stories about Y/N Knoxx before, I never thought I'd get to meet you in person. I'm Ava by the way.

I responded to her comment calmly. "So your Maya's follower hmm?" She nodded as I continued "Well Ava, I'm really tired now and am in need of a rest. Why don't you go and see if you can help Lilith or the Vault Hunters huh?"

Ava responded "Oh okay!" And with that she dashed out of the med bay. I sighed and led down on the makeshift bed I was on. I tried to get some rest but I then  heard a familiar annoying voice I never thought I'd hear again. "Hey Y/N!"

I turned to the door as my eyes widened "Claptrap?! Hey. Come in, come in." Now you may be wondering why I was quick to dismiss Ava but I actually told Claptrap to come closer. Well you see I had something I needed to say to Claptrap and it was important.

"How have you been Claptrap?" He responded in that typical joyful tone "I've been great! After you helped Handsome Jack kill my entire product line, I was able to meet some new Vault Hunters and they lead me on an adventure to where we are right now!"

I sighed before saying. "That's what I want to say. Claptrap, I apologize for working with Handsome Jack. I had no idea he planned to wipe out your product line. I hope you can forgive me."

Claptrap responded "Yay! I forgive you! On one condition!" I turned to him "What's that?" He stuck his hand in the air and yelled "HIGH FIVE!" I smiled and said "You bet." With that I accepted it. 

My chance at Redemption had come about once again, this time I wouldn't let it slip like last time.

Timeskip...

By the time I recovered enough to leave the medical bay, the Vault Hunters had killed Troy, Ava had taken Maya's Siren powers. They all met Typhon Deleon, the first Vault Hunter and finally they were able to defeat Tyreen who had fused herself with the Destroyer who somehow had survived.

In the process however Lilith sacrificed herself and placed Ava in command, after this I decided it would be best for me to retire from the front line myself. I left my soldiers in the Crimson Raiders' care since after everything, I think it was time to finally merge the Crimson Raiders and the Crimson Lance Reborn into a single faction. 

Before I could leave however, there was one final adventure for me to partake in. One that would cross my path with that of an old friend once again.

Author's Note: That concludes Chapter 53 and the final Chapter of my Borderlands 3 main story segment. Now originally I was actually going to have Y/N be killed by the Calypsos and end the story there but I figured that would  be too anticlimactic so I'm going to do one more segment which will be Moxxi's Heist on the Handsome Jackpot. After that there will be an epilogue and after that the story will be done. I really hope you enjoyed the chapter and as always, thank you for reading.
