Chapter 35: Oasis and the Pirate Queen

Y/N POV

While the physical injuries eventually healed, following the battle at Control Core Angel, my mental or psychological damage didn't. I knew Angel had been killed by those Vault Hunters and to make matters worse she had not only allowed them to do it BUT she AIDED them in the process!

The whole ordeal had kind of left me in a slump for the months when my bullet wounds were healing. I Echoed Aurelia and we had a catch up, when I told her what had happened she tried her best to be sympathetic towards me despite it clearly not being in her nature.

I eventually came to a conclusion that with Handsome Jack dead I would need some time away from the Crimson Lance Reborn. After all, going to Elpis helped me with my parents' death even if it did set me on a path leading to where I am now.

The real question was what would I do? Where would I go?

I thought for a while until I remembered a legend that I had heard being mentioned by some of the Pandora residents. The legend spoke of something called Captain Blade's lost treasure. No one knew what it was except for the fact that to find where it was buried you would need to find all the pieces of Captain Blade's compass which would apparently point to the location of the treasure.

Then again, the legend also spoke of a giant creature called the Leviathan that protected the treasure similar to how a Vault Guardian protects a Vault. And that's where my interest in the matter was piqued.

You see I had a slight hunch that whatever this treasure was, it may be something of Eridian origin, like a Vault so to speak. Don't get me wrong, I had no interest in guns and money wasn't a problem even though it would still be beneficial to have. No, it was any Eridian artifacts I could find that would be useful. 

One thing I did know was that the treasure was located near the desert town of Oasis, so it was a safe bet to begin my search for the compass pieces there. I left, accompanied only by my two Royal Guards, giving strict orders to my men to hold the area at any cost, a task I was confident they could accomplish.

Upon arriving at Oasis I was surprised to find that the entire place was pretty much a ghost town, there wasn't a single person in sight and all that could be heard was the distant sound of those strange sand worm creatures.

Now I say there wasn't a single person in sight. Well that technically wasn't true. Because someone or something had actually arranged the corpses of the previous town residents into strange life-like poses and strapped Echo recorders to them.

Normally I would just chalk this up to Bandits but for some reason there was no blood present or any other sign of Bandit presence so I was having doubts about that idea.

Suddenly my Echo went off and I saw a man whom I didn't recognize and the name 'Shade' was on the bottom. The man spoke in a loud, eccentric voice and he was clearly insane. "A new face in Oasis! HI! I'm Shade, welcome to my town stranger, where it's people are all very much alive! Say why don't you come over to my stand and talk!"

I seemed uneasy about this but I went over to the stand where the shutters were down. As me and my guards approached, the shutter lifted to reveal the man from the Echo before. He looked at us and yelled "Hello my new friend! Welcome to Oasis!"

My guards tensed at the man and I could tell they were planning to gun him down right then and there but I stopped them before turning to the strange man, whom I believe was called Shade. I instantly put on a surprisingly friendly persona for him.

Hello, Shade was it? My name is Colonel Y/N Knoxx. I am here in search of Captain Blade's Lost Treasure. You wouldn't happen to know anything about that would you?" Shade responded instantly "Not me! But if your looking for the treasure, I suggest you go and speak to Captain Scarlett, her and her pirate crew are camped out in Wurmwater! I have two skiffs available for you to take if you want!"

I went over to where the Skiffs were located and once again was contacted via my Echo. This time I saw a woman dressed up like a pirate and the name said 'Captain Scarlett' She instantly spoke in a somewhat hyperactive tone.

"So, your here looking for the treasure same as me huh? I'm Captain Scarlett and if your the Y/N Knoxx, my friend Nisha told me about, I think we'll get along quite fine. So here's my idea, we work together and find the treasure, then we can either split it 50/50 or we go the more fun route and betray each other over it. Come meet me in Wurmwater if your interested. I'm sending the coordinates."

Sure enough, I noticed that I now had a waypoint for Scarlett's ship, me and my guards got on the skiff and drove off. I chuckled when I looked at the other one, whomever tried to use that would be in for a nasty surprise since it would explode and they would need to repair it themselves.

After travelling on the skiff for a while we eventually found a large black ship docked in a cave. Once again Captain Scarlett contacted me "You made it! Ace! Well I'll let you up." Suddenly a lift lowered with a ladder attached to it.

Me and my guards climbed it until I arrived on the main deck. There a woman approached me "So, your here. I've heard about you. Ex Crimson Lance, Hyperion. If your looking for the treasure then your in the right place but first allow me to introduce myself. I'm Captain Scarlett."
