Chapter 27: The Crimson Traitors

Author's Note: This Chapter, along with the next one take place shortly after the Claptastic Voyage, roughly a year therefore it's two or three years before Borderlands 2's story officially starts. I hope you enjoy.

Y/N POV

I'm FINALLY returning to Pandora! In the year that had passed since the Claptrap product line was wiped out, I had been ordered to remain on Helios. Handsome Jack, Nisha and Wilhelm went down to Pandora in order to wipe out the Bandit stronghold town of New Haven however quite a few of it's population escaped and fled to Sanctuary which was protected by a shield.

I didn't participate in the assault on New Haven due to the fact that Handsome Jack still deemed my physically ill however internally I was fine. It was just externally my appearance had worsened. 

How so you may ask? Well it was exactly like what had happened to Zarpedon, the fingers on my gloves had shredded away to reveal glowing purple fingers which that same glow also covered my hands and snaked up my arms however this was covered by my attire.

Most notably however my eyes were now a bright purple and matching purple cracks surrounded them. Things weren't all bad though as in this time I had gained a couple of new supernatural abilities revolving around the Sentinel's Staff. Such as the ability to create shockwaves like those done by Zarpedon and the Sentinel.

Now it seems though that Handsome Jack deemed me worthy to return to Pandora. He didn't give me any orders directly however he did tell me that he would contact me in time. While I waited I knew exactly what I was going to do!

I walked to one of the hangars on Helios and just like Handsome Jack had told me, there was a Hyperion ship waiting for me. I had been told that it would take me to Pandora's surface and it was my job to find a suitable location to set up shop from there.

I entered the ship and saw a Loader Bot piloting it. I turned to it and said "Travel to the Salt Flats!" The Loader Bot spoke up "But sir, that is far way from any Hyperion outposts." I glared at the Loader and snapped "Do I have to repeat myself? I'd hope not. Now, do it."

The Loader Bot simply responded "Yes sir." With that the ship took off and began it's journey down to Pandora's surface. Upon our arrival, as I requested I was dropped off in the Salt Flats. As soon as I exited the door shut behind me and the ship flew off.

I watched as it travelled up to the now-completed Helios Space Station until it was no longer in sight. Helios shone brightly, a technological marvel over this barren wasteland of a planet.

Now that I was here, I knew exactly where to go. I went to the nearby Catch a Ride and ordered up one of those runners. I ordered in the default color scheme since it didn't matter. What DID matter however was getting to my destination.

I got in the drivers seat and instantly set off. It didn't take my long to arrive at a certain familiar gate where I was stopped by a voice. "Halt! You are trespassing on private property! Identify yourself now or be terminated!"

I signed before looking up at the soldier and bluntly saying "Is that a way to greet your Colonel?" The soldier stepped back stuttering "C-colonel Knoxx? W-we thought you were dead! Please, go right on through, I'll notify the soldiers of your arrival."

I nodded and grinned faintly as the gate opened and I drove right on through. I received surprised looks from all the soldiers and eventually I turned to one of them saying "Gather everyone up, I wish to give a speech."

He nodded and gave a simple "Yes sir." Before all the soldiers were lined up before me in rows. One thing I noticed instantly was the significantly decreased number of soldiers than when I had left for Elpis a year and a half ago.

Firstly I asked "I notice there are less of you than before, why is that?" The soldiers started muttering among themselves until one of them simply held out an Echo recording to me. I looked at it with my bright purple eyes.

I played it and instantly heard Roland's voice "This is a message to any Crimson Lance left on Pandora, both General and Colonel Knoxx are dead, and knowing the Lance, they're much more likely to cut their losses and leave you here, than send an extraction ship. If you want to survive out there you have two choices, one you become Bandits, two you join me in protecting the people of Sanctuary, I can offer you food, shelter and the chance to fight for something real, something meaningful, a chance I know the Atlas Corporation never gave you. Roland out!"

I looked at the Echo in rage before asking the crowd "How many left to join Roland?" One soldier stuttered "J-just over h-half sir." I was furious now as I announced "Well as you can clearly see, I'm not dead! And on top of that I have been hired by Handsome Jack which means you also now work for him, he has promised our survival should we prove valuable.

I held up a Crimson Raiders poster that was on a nearby wall (The one at the top) "I will offer a promotion to the person who brings back the firearms of the most Crimson Traitors!" I then tore the poster in half.

The Crimson Lance Reborn members raised their weapons and cheered as I noticed a communication on my Echo, it was Handsome Jack giving me a simple sentence.

"I have a new task for you, come to the Hyperion Bunker near Thousand Cuts, there's someone I want you to meet."

Author's Note: That concludes Chapter 27 and the first chapter of the Borderlands 2 segment. I'm sorry if the chapter's bad, I found it difficult to write this one. I'll try and get the next one up tonight. Still I do hope you enjoyed and thank you for reading.
