Upon touching the large purple crystal, we were all instantly transported to somewhere which even now I can't really describe. It appeared to be some sort of circular platform, surrounded by a ring of bright, burning purple fire.
Other than that there was literally nothing here. We all looked confused as Wilhelm asked "What the hell is this place?" I turned saying "I don't know. But if I'm right the Vault should be nearby along with it's protector.
Nisha asked "Protector?" Suddenly there was a loud rumble noise as an archway formed in the centre of the chamber. However the archway floated in midair until it opened a purple gateway, just like the one on Pandora did.
However soon more columns rose from the ground, taking the form of a staircase as a creature walked out of the portal and down the staircase until it stood right in front of us. The mysterious new being was surprisingly humanoid in shape in contrast to the mass of tentacles the Destroyer was. In face it heavily resembled the Eridian Guardians we encountered earlier.
The creature outstretched it's hand as a staff, similar to Zarpedon's emerged from the ground and floated into it's grasp.

I made a quick comment to myself "Huh, it's shorter than I expected." With that our battle against the guardian of the Vault began. Jack announced "This is it everybody! Kill this Guardian and the Vault's ours!"
This fight was like nothing I had faced before. Even with seven of us all firing at it. This creature which if my Eridian lore knowledge was correct, was referred to as The Sentinel was very agile and fast.
And even when we depleted the shield it would just make this weird noise before regenerating, this time with a different element at it's disposal. On top of that, much like Zarpedon did, the Sentinel kept releasing shockwaves which we had to jump over.
Luckily for us however, after three rounds of constant regeneration, the Sentinel didn't regenerate so we were actually able to kill it with slightly less trouble than before, even IF it was still the most difficult battle I had been in, even with my time in the Crimson Lance.
Once the Sentinel was dead it's corpse sunk into the ground but for some odd reason it left it's staff on the floor. At first we thought it was finally over but I then noticed ripples coming across the floor.
Suddenly a giant version of the Sentinel burst forth from the ground, it's legs and lower torso still submerged into whatever this surface we were stood on was. Once again I made a little comment to myself "Now that's more like it."

Now if you thought the fight with the Sentinel sounded difficult. Think again! The Empyrean Sentinel was capable of literally electrifying the floor beneath it. To make matters worse, it seemed completely immune to any form of damage we threw at it.
All except for it's face! Upon realizing this weakness we focused all our attacks there yet much like before, once we destroyed it's face it would just rotate it's head revealing another one with new elemental abilities.
Despite this in the end with our combined fire power we were able to bring the creature down as guns and various other loot fired out of the sky. The Sentinel's corpse sunk back into the ground. This time it was dead.
However this was just the beginning of the end.
Suddenly we heard Jack's voice, this time in person, saying "Big bastard wasn't he? Nicely done. Keep an eye out for that creepy red one, I don't wanna get interrupted." He looked around seeing that all the loot had been gathered except for some strange floating object baring the symbol of the Vaults.
He gestured to the object in disappointment saying "Wait, what? That's it? That... little thing. The hell did-" He stopped talking as he approached the object before reaching out to touch it muttering "Oh, what kind of weapon-"
As he touched it the object glowed as Jack floated into the air slowly before a makeshift throne came out of the ground which Jack was placed in. Suddenly the object shot purple light into Jack's eyes as he exclaimed
"Oh my GOD! I get it! I understand! I understand EVERYTHING! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!" While he was laughing like a maniac a portal opened and Lilith emerged simply saying "Heya handsome."
She lept into the air and punched the artifact right into Jack's face! As a pained cry emerged from him. Before I could react, Lilith left through another portal as Jack fell to the ground, his face on fire as he writhed on the floor in agony.
Suddenly he said darkly "I'm gonna kill her." He moved his hands revealing a large, glowing scar which stretched across his face in the shape of the Vault symbol. "I'm gonna kill them ALL!"

I don't think any of us knew how to react as Jack continued his hate filled rant. "First. You're gonna find me a doctor. Then we're gonna wipe those Bandit bastards off the face of Pandora!" He briefly turned his head as he eerily uttered
"And then. Then we're gonna wake the Warrior."
Athena asked "The what?" Jack didn't answer as he sat back in the throne, I leaned forward curiously to see what his next steps were. "It's gonna be so good. We're gonna scorch the freakin' planet in fire, there's gonna be screaming. Bandits are gonna die left and right. I can't WAIT! HAHAHAHA!"
While Jack was laughing like a madman, I noticed Athena simply turn and leave. Wilhelm and Nisha both looked pleased with this course of action Claptrap, other Jack and Aurelia looked like they didn't know what to say.
I then noticed the Sentinel's staff lying on the ground and went to pick it up. What I didn't know was what would happen to my body from doing this. But I would learn in time.
And that is the story of how my friend Jack died. And he was replaced with my boss-
