Chapter 32: The Derailed Train

Y/N POV

A few days had passed since the siege on the Bloodshot Stronghold and since then, I hadn't received any orders from Handsome Jack. I really missed Angel and really wanted to see her again but of course unless Handsome Jack ordered me to protect her again, I knew I had zero chance of getting through the Bunker.

Now I said before I didn't receive any orders from Handsome Jack well that all changed today. I was once again in my chair, in my office with my Royal Guards sat on either side of me. I was in the process of thought as many things drifted through my mind, Angel, my parent's deaths and finally the Vault Hunters I had grown to hate so much.

Anyway, I was broken from that thought process by hearing Handsome Jack's voice coming from my Echo. "Hey, wakey wakey Y/N. It's time to you to rise and shine kiddo I have a new job for you."

I looked at the Echo to see his face on the other end and asked "What's the job?" Handsome Jack responded "It's very important so listen closely." I then said "I'm listening." He then went on to explain to me.

"I've set up a little trap for those little Vault Hunters and their Crimson Raider buddies. I've got a train which will be travelling through Tundra Express. I've leaked false information which hints that the Vault Key will be hidden on there when in truth it will be you and Wilhelm, once the trap is sprung you will kill them."

I raised my hand up, faintly pointing at him as I said "I like this plan." Handsome Jack laughed before saying "Of course you do, I came up with it and I'm awesome. Now I want you on that train now and I want you to take that Devastator suit of yours. It'll make all this even more fun."

I nodded before he shut the Echo off. I went to the storage where my Devastator was located, I got inside and activated it, placing the helmet on afterwards.

(Now the eyes on the helmet shine purple due to Y/N's eyes changing.)

However at the time I was unaware that Handsome Jack had other plans for this ambush and not only poisoned Wilhelm but paid one of my men to sabotage my Devastator that it would malfunction after taking minor damage. In the end he wanted the Vault Hunters to get their hands on a fake power core regardless if he lost me and Wilhelm in the process.

Speaking of Wilhelm, I arrived at where the train was located and sure enough, there he was. Now I wouldn't say the two of us were the closest of friends, on Elpis I always got along best with Aurelia and other Jack but both Wilhelm and Nisha were considered friends and good allies.

Much like myself, Wilhelm had changed quite a bit since Elpis as well. Now while I simply got glowing purple eyes, purple hands which snaked up my arm as well as purple blood, Wilhelm had gone full on mechanical changes.

I approached, still in my Devastator as Wilhelm spoke up "Hey, Y/N. Been a while huh? Wait, where was this badass suit of yours when we were on Elpis?" I used my suit to shrug before saying "I don't know, where were your new enhancements hmm?" He sighed "Point taken, let's get going."

With that we boarded the train and it set off, and much like Handsome Jack anticipated, the rails were hit by explosive rockets and the train derailed and plummeted into a cavern below, luckily me and Wilhelm were protected in the process and we kept hidden.

Soon the Vault Hunters approached the wreckage, probably looking for the Vault Key and we chose this time for Wilhelm to throw the carriage we were under at the group. I emerged and fired a missile at the carriage causing it to explode.

I took a second to look at the Vault Hunters and sure enough, I recognized the blue haired siren and Psycho from that time in Three Horns Divide but I also saw that small fat guy from the Bloodshot Ramparts, they were accompanied by a young man who looked like he was from the military along with a young girl, possibly younger than me.

I didn't have that long to take in their appearance however as me and Wilhelm had the fun job of eliminating them. Or so we thought.

For whatever reason Wilhelm wasn't performing all that well, especially since I heard he single handedly took out the four original Vault Hunters at New Haven. On top of this, after sustaining a few shots and only minor damage, my suit began sparking and acting up.

As the firepower continued from the Vault Hunters and Wilhelm was eventually killed. My suit fell over and I was trapped inside it as it began sparking violently and shaking. I was concerned until I heard a voice "Y/N, Y/N can you here me?"

Suddenly an image appeared in my vision, it portrayed a girl about my age, one I recognized as Angel instantly. I was surprised "Angel?" She seemed hurried "There isn't any time Y/N, your suit is going to explode and take you with it, this was my dad's intention he had a plan to destroy Sanctuary and he needed you and Wilhelm to be killed by the Vault Hunters to sell the idea. You need to teleport out now!"

I didn't need to be told twice as I grabbed my teleporter and escaped barely with my life. True, I was now furious that Handsome Jack had tried to kill me but in the end I knew if I was going to keep Angel and Pandora safe I would need to remain in his employ.

However I would need a way to contact him and I knew just the person to help me with that, it was now time to make my way to the Bandit town of Lynchwood to pay another old friend of mine a visit.

Author's Note: That finishes Chapter 32. Now I'm sorry if this disappoints you but I won't be covering any of the DLC for Borderlands 2 or 3, my reason for this is because I can't think of a way to insert Y/N into the plot that makes sense.
