Chapter 15: A New Band of Vault Hunters

Y/N POV

I followed Aurelia and Jack out of Moxxi's Bar. I noticed they were leading me over to a small group who were just standing expectantly. Once we approached the band Jack spoke up. "Guy's this is Y/N Knoxx. He's agreed to help us locate the jamming signal in Crisis Scar."

Two of this little team approached me. The first was a woman who resembled a sheriff of sorts, the other was a big man with a fake eye. The big man spoke first "This is Y/N Knoxx? I've heard the stories about you. Names Wilhelm. If your half the man I've heard than you'll be a good edition."

I then heard the gunslinger woman speak "Jack sure does know how to attract people with a reputation doesn't he? It's a surprise he's got this many big shots under him. I'm Nisha. I'm sure you've heard of me."

I did in fact recognize her, she was actually on Atlas' watch list similar to how Dr Ned was. I responded "Yes I know who you are." She faintly smiled cockily to herself before saying "Well then we'll get along just fine."

I shrugged before we were interrupted by a loud voice "Hello Colonel!" I turned around to see a Claptrap waving at me dramatically. I turned to Nisha and Wilhelm before asking "Is he with you?"

Nisha responded bitterly saying "Yes." Wilhelm added in the same tone "Unfortunately." I turned back to the Claptrap and realized I actually recognized him as the same Claptrap who lead that brief revolution.

I muttered to myself "Oh good, it's you again." I then addressed him with a fake smile and waved saying "Um. Hi." I then noticed someone else with them who seemed distracted. I asked Nisha "Who's that?"

She responded "That's Athena, she doesn't say much." Now call my paranoid but hearing that name and seeing her red color scheme caused me to quickly put two and two together which resulted in my eyes being clouded with hate as I pulled out my pistol shot several rounds at her.

However her shield ate them up and next thing I knew she had the familiar sight of a Crimson Lance Assassin Blade placed to my throat. Before she could do anything however I pointed my pistol right at her temple and clicked it so she knew it was still loaded.

She glared up at me and seethed "Give me one reason. One reason why I shouldn't spill your tainted guts all over the ground here." I glared back at her before I spat "If you even attempt anything, I'll blow your brains out right now." I swear you could literally feel the hate bubbling between the two of us as we just glared at one another.

Eventually Jack spoke up saying "Um guys?" Aurelia continued "Calm down the both of you!" Next Nisha added "As much as I'd love to see the two of you go at it, we've all been employed by the same person so for now put your differences aside."

Me and Athena looked at one another before she withdrew her weapon and put her hand out to shake. "Then we have a truce for now." I shook it and answered "Okay. For the time being let's agree not to murder one another."

Claptrap exclaimed "Yay! Friends!" We looked at him before Aurelia spoke up "If the introductions are concluded wouldn't it be best to locate that Jamming Signal now?" Wilhelm responded "Yeah we've wasted enough time as is." We all nodded and headed for the exit to the Triton Flats.

However as we approached the gate, a large metal door slammed shut on it and we heard a voice over the city intercom "Attention citizens of Concordia! Until further notice, for your own protection, the city is in lockdown. Now one in or out. That is all."

I instantly recognized the voice as that of the Meriff, the guy who ran this place. I also heard the other's employer yelling "Oh what the hell is wrong with this guy?! This is so frustrating! Get back to Moxxi's she's got secret exits everywhere." I heard him mutter afterwards "Classic."

On the way back I decided to speak up. "So that was our employer there?" Nisha nodded and said "Yep his names Jack." I pointed to the Jack with us and said "Like this guy?" Aurelia spoke up now "This Jack is but a doppelganger of the Jack who has hired us, he is currently still on Helios Station."

I nodded before addressing the doppelganger "I'm gonna call you 'Other Jack' Sound good?" He nodded and said "Sure." I just let out a "Hmm." After that and we went quiet again.

We returned to Moxxi's only to find that she wasn't here. However B4R-BOT informed us that she was in a secret workshop in the back. He also told us to get in there we would have to use the secret slot machine and push the button when it came out.

We did as had just been explained to us and sure enough we found a secret room. As soon as we approached we could here Moxxi speaking in a completely different accent to usual. We approached and Wilhelm casually said "Hey." And she turned to us shocked before regaining both her composure and persona.

Luckily even though we knew her secret now, she still agreed to help us and showed us a secret exit through her workshop which lead to the Triton Flats. However before we left she threatened that if we told anyone she would have her son bury us alive in a shallow grave.

With that bit of business out of the way, we proceeded on our way and that is how I became a Vault Hunter. A mistake that would affect the rest of my life from this point onwards.
