With Zarpedon dead, we all got onto a separate elevator and descended down once more. After that we went through more corridors until we arrived at yet another elevator! Honestly, how many of these things were there?
Anyway, this one also went down and when we came out of it, we found ourselves in some sort of large tunnel. At first I was curious to see what it was but soon enough the familiar purple beam fired, right up close to us as Jack warned us not to get in the way of it for obvious reasons.
Once the laser had kept firing we all made our way down the shaft until we noticed a side door. We went through that and soon we were in some kind of large room. In the centre was a metallic orb with wires attached to it. I'm assuming this is the laser core for the Eye of Helios.
Jack announced proudly "And this is where the magic happens. Once again the beam fired so we got a good demonstration of how it worked. Wilhelm asked what it was before Jack responded "This is what makes the Eye of Helios work. It's the core of the entire weapon."
Roland asked over the Echo "How could this thing even generate that much power?" Jack simply responded "Come over here and I'll show you." As we went to where Jack was we heard him explain "Once we get this baby back under our control, it could wipe out entire bandit encampments with ZERO friendly casualties. Sounds pretty great right?"
I had to admit, I liked the sound of that. I'm not usually a cruel person but when it comes to Bandits? That's a different matter. Lilith however responded "Yeah, sounds great." From the tone in her voice I could tell something was up.
Once we reached the ledge where Jack was he said "There she is." She then seemingly addressed the core "Hey pumpkin! You in there?" Suddenly the core opened up and I was left dumbfounded when it revealed an actual moving, blinking, giant eyeball inside.

The eye looked at us before firing a beam down the shaft again. Roland asked "What the Hell? Is that-" Jack explained "The Eye of Helios. Well it's actually the Eye of the Destroyer creature that came outta the Vault. But I attached it to my laser to increase it's power tenfold. Cause I'm awesome."
I grinned, so this is what happened to the Destroyer. Serves the creature right for murdering my mother. Lilith asked shocked "You used the Destroyer's eye as a weapon?!" Jack responded "It was a weapon already, all the Eridian remnants are. I just figured out how to use it. Anyway, how do we shut this thing down?"
Moxxi was the one to answer "Carefully. Even ignoring the weird-ass eye, this type of reactor is highly volatile. Your feeding it something that amplifies it's power aren't you." Jack answered "Oh uh, runoff from the Eridium refinement process. Some of the scientists call it 'Slag'."
Moxxi then began instructing the Vault Hunters while I remained on the balcony with Jack. "Alright, do EXACTLY as I say and everything will be fine. Switch three of the flow sequencers to their prime position and reverse the power differential."
