Janus slowly rose up into the living room at six in the morning, cautiously scanning the room. On the left side of the couch laid Thomas, and then Roman who had curled up on the floor with the broom handle held protectively in his arms. Finally, he glanced up at Remus who was embracing Virgil on the neighbouring couch, warm and safe in each other's comfort.

Janus felt sick. He'd come for Remus, to make sure he was well and prepared to fight the next day, but instead came to a scene which practically screamed betrayal. But he wasn't furious, or even mildly angry. He was sad. Tears of blue streamed silently down his cheeks, the beats of loneliness pounded his heart. Now Janus had lost everyone. Virgil, Remus, even himself.

"I've lost everything that matters to me," he whispered to himself. "I've got nothing left to lose."

Janus slowly rose back down into the dark sides, closing his bedroom door and sobbing softly. "What have I done? All I want is my sons, all I want is their love. I'm a failure. I truly have nothing left to live for." Deceit cried himself to sleep that night, miserable and exhausted. "There is no way to fix this, I've strayed too far from the light. Even Patton hates me now, and there is nothing I can do to earn even an ounce of friendship back. This time, I've gone too far."
