I Was Blessed

Some scoff at the idea of love at first sight,

they say it's infatuation not love - not quite

and for many that's likely very true

but love is not just for the eyes to say,

it is recognized by the heart in such a way

that forms a story, which from that day

forward does root and grow 'til both parties know

without a doubt what true love at first sight

is all about and in my case that tale came true

in a lifetime of sharing where each day was new

where in unequalled joy two hearts became one,

lasting until their days were done
