I See a Dream
Freshly stepping into the adult world,
Hope, wishes and dreams crowd the heart.
Careers to chase, lands to travel,
Riches to earn, art to acquire.
Life was full of dreams and plans,
Reality had different ideas.
Career turned to a yearly grind,
Travel is navigating the daily traffic.
Riches was mortgages to pay off,
And art was crocheted blankets and scarfs.
Holidays to enjoy is a distant dream,
As a free weekend seems an impossible one.
Wanderlust dissipated to wondering about,
And mundaneness kept one rooted.
As years rolled by, those dreams faded,
As life shattered and shaped my path.
Yet, I still have not stopped dreaming,
Though the dreams have changed with time
