Speech

The day had come when I finished school

A piece of paper my employment tool

A technical graduate from a diversified pool

No chance to speak and look real cool

But if I had I would have said

You armed me well for the road ahead

No fear that what you taught misled

Learned from a riot act that was read

The rules were hard the work was tough

You made us feel it was never enough

But you never babied us with guff

You gave what was needed for the right stuff

An arsenal of skills your words provided

And for market needs they coincided

No thought of being undecided

We were confident and motivated

Looking back on passing grades

I'm happy I took all the trades

In spite of all the escapades

They set me up in spades

So thanks to the staff that made me try

To do more than just get by

To greet the world where only the sky

Would be my limit - thanks and goodbye
