Seeking Sunrise
A sunrise of dreams curdling into tears
Of tattered hopes, cascading down my
Gown of streaming silk in silence. An
Image once beautiful, in an archway of
The past, cast in gloom of brimming
Rainfall, upon my painted cheekbones.
Youthful joy cresting softly unrealized
Illusions, sheltered by shade near-by, as
I rode through woodlands to the melody
Of birdsong and chiming hooves.
Curving cornfields of golden wheat, a
Background untarnished. To live and
To ride, to canter with the scent of wild
Mint in the air. To race against the
Telling ticking clock. Arcing lithe limbs
Over fences, the rush of the sailing wind
Feeling weightless. Shattering into
Cherishing memories, showering
Haunting days of malady from a single
Hour of verity. Dancing on the edge of
The night, sleepless and longing,
Emotion unspent welling in tiresome
Pools. My heart a restless sea of
Grieving depths, lost in climbing
Anguish; where my forlorn fingertips
Began wandering to pen and paper.
Bleeding ink birthing dreams of navy
Hills, growing into the warmth of
Familiar meadows striving for my
Sunrise reborn anew.
