My Heart Became an Anchor

My world irrevocably changed

The instant a set of amber stones met mine

Warmth coiled around my limbs like vines

Till it set ablaze a raging fire

Kindled embers I had never sired

My heart became an anchor

Hitting hard upon the ocean floor

That rippled waves far onto shore

The sound unheard by neighboring faces

But vibrations loud in innocent places.

My lungs sought the will to breathe

And I knew then my heart lay at your feet
