Caps Ready

To our parents

and our teachers

and the girl I met

by the bleachers

Please allow me

to recall

all the days we spent

between these walls...

As for science

my friend Jenny

taught me lots

about biology

Learning math seemed

very nice

once the boys caught on

to playing dice

Reading used to be

quite a bore

until we found that book

in miss Hadley's drawer

We studied film

while in the A.V.

instead of jeering

at a pep rally

What a history

we sure made

A legacy left

for those who'll stay

The art of skipping

was art indeed

and we got the education

we would need

Dear fellow students

Life is for living

Enjoy today

Take what you're given

The doors on the world

are open at last

We've gowns to shed

Our caps are ready to cast

There's a lesson here

that you don't want to miss

A diploma is important

But what is life without risk?
