31. Yuno's First Mission #1

(Golden Dawn: Klaus, Mimosa and Yuno)

Klaus's mind: Yuno, Golden Dawn's newbie, the genius that every captain of Magic Knights wanted in their squads. Then Mimosa Vermillion, a royal who is also a newbie. Their first mission together is to act as bodyguards for Salim Hapshass?

(Earlier)

"Escorting the son of Lord Hapshass of the House of Lords to our ally, the Heart Kingdom?" Klaus asked Captain William. "You know who Lord Hapshass is, don't you?" Captain William asked. "I've only heard of his name. Since he's an upstart noble, he doesn't quite have a good reputation." Klaus said bowing his head. "That's why he's worried that his son, who's going to study in the Heart Kingdom, might be targeted by some bandits." William explained.

"But there are many more powerful mages among his own family." Klaus said. "He feels more reassured to have the famous Magic Knights as bodyguards. Lord Hapshass makes very generous donations to the Magic Knights every years, so as a civil servant, I couldn't just refuse. Are you reluctant to do it?" Captain William asked.

"No!" Klaus exclaimed. Captain William was walking down the stairs, "We must fulfill every kind of mission. This is also for the sake of the Clover Kingdom.". "Yes, I understand." Klaus bowed. "Take Mimosa with you too. The three of you, including you as their mentor, are enough for the job. I'll leave the newbies to your care." William walked away.

(Present)

Klaus's mind: Salim Hapshass lost to Yuno in the final round of the entrance exam and ended up being unable to join the Magic Knights. So why did he appoint Yuno to be one of his bodyguards?

"It's my first mission and I'm so nervous. Mr. Klaus, Yuno, it's a pleasure to work with you." Mimosa said. "Yes." Yuno said, not even taking a single look at Mimosa. "Don't let your guard down, Mimosa." Klaus said. "Yes!" She exclaimed. "You too." Klaus said coldly to Yuno. "I know." Yuno said.

Klaus's mind: What an insolent newbie.

Salim raised his hand which was a message for Yuno to go him so he went closer to Salim. "How have you been, Yuno?" He asked. Yuno didn't give him and answer and just looked at him coldly. "Don't make that scary face. I requested you as my bodyguard because I wanted to apologize. Your goal is to become the Magic Emperor isn't it?" Salim asked. "How did you know?" Yuno asked coldly. "All of the captains raised their hands. You could've joined any squad and you ended up choosing the Golden Dawn, so I figured that must be why. I'm sure you'll do an outstanding job from now on, and your name will spread throughout the entire kingdom. Everyone will know you as Yuno of the Clover Kingdom." Yuno just looked away from Salim.

"Make sure your dream of becoming the Magic Emperor comes true. That way, I'll be able to brag to my future children that I once fought the Magic Emperor, and they'll say "Father, you're so cool!". There's still some distance to go before we reach the Heart Kingdom. If you don't mind, could you tell me about yourself? I won't force you to if you don't feel like it." Salim said.

"I'm from Hage Village." Yuno said. Salim was in shock then he smirked, "I've heard of it. It's the most remote village, isn't it? I think that's where the legend about the first Magic Emperor defeating a demon comes from." Salim said. "It's not just a legend. In fact, a giant skull of the demon is still there.". "Really?" Salim asked. "I was abandoned at the door of a church when I was young. I've never seen my parents and no one knows who they are. Though the church was poor, the priest and sisters there took care of us well. I'm very grateful to them." Yuno said.

Klaus's mind: No problem so far, but there must be someone in the Hapshass family who can use transportation magic. Why go all through all this trouble? Not to mention that we're the only bodyguards. If they were really worried about the bandits, why didn't they hire more bodyguards? There are too many questionable points in this mission.

"Ara, what's that?" Mimosa pointed at the sky. "Those clouds..." Klaus stopped. "They're a little creepy." Mimosa said. "I'll go check them out." Yuno said. He went towards the black clouds. "Hey! Don't act on your own!" Klaus exclaimed. "Tch, stay alert, Mimosa.".

"H-hai!"

Yuno was looking at the clouds then fire balls were aiming at him from the black clouds and Yuno was trying to avoid all of them. People came out from the black clouds and targeted Yuno.

"Yuno! Protect the ship!" Klaus exclaimed. "That's what I intend to do." Yuno then prepared a spell on his palm, a guy was about to throw a fire ball at Yuno but Yuno used his Wind Magic to make it disappear, then a guy appeared behind Yuno while he was distracted.

(Black Bulls base)

"Hey Y/n! You done cleaning over there?" Asta shouted. "Yah!" Y/n exclaimed. "I can't believe that the rookies have to do the chores here in the base." Y/n sighed.

"Asta, I'm going back to Hage, do you want to go with me and visit them?" Y/n asked. "Nah, I'm good. I still have work to do here." Asta smiled. "Are you sure? You can take a break you know...Plus you can see Sister Lily again." Y/n said. "It's fine. Just go, I bet Recca will be happy to see you again." Asta said then gestured you to shoo.

Y/n's mind: When will he ever stop overworking himself? *sighs* First of all, that was the first time he didn't want to see Sister Lily. I have to get ready to visit them. I can't wait to see them again! I will just stay with them for a while then go back to the base, hehehe, I don't want to worry them again.*smiles*

Y/n got her broom, bid the members goodbye then flew. "It really is nice to be up in the sky." Y/n said. Then she increased her speed going towards Hage Village.
